Khabib would have fought Ferguson if Ferguson didn't fake an injury and duck him. I guess the pressure got to him.
Alvarez got the title shot on a 2 fight split decision streak over top 10 guys.
Ferguson has a big winning streak and sewed unholy violence upon Barboza and Thomson.
The Thomson fight was closer than you're remembering. "Unholy violence" probably doesn't work with that fight.
And half of them have had title shots.Thats irrelevant and PRIDE/UFC champs have been along for along time anyways.
Holloway, Cub, Jacare, Yoel, Stephens, Nate, Khabib, Barboza, Glover, Lil Nog, Humble, Bader, Whittaker, Gegard, Kennedy, Mccall, Dodson, JoeB, Bagautinov, Assuncao, Mayday, Lineker, Brooks, Melendez, Wineland, Faber, Chad, Wonderboy, Hory, Demian, Ellenberger, Story, Matt Brown, Hunt, maybe Gastelum and Michael Johnson, etc.
All of them have at least 2 top 10 wins.
Khabib pulled out first, and also 2x against Cerrone.Khabib would have fought Ferguson if Ferguson didn't fake an injury and duck him. I guess the pressure got to him.
Better for Cerrone. Cerrone has nothing for Khabib. RDA is probably the second best in the LW division and Khabib made him look like a grappling debutant.Khabib pulled out first, and also 2x against Cerrone.
I'm a Khabib fan but an argument could have been made for Ferguson, RDA or Khabib to get the next shot.
Pettis and Gil were both top 5 guys coming off title fights, and Pettis was top 15 P4P. They were more elite at the time Eddie beat them than anyone Ferg has fought thus far.
DadConor sleeps them all.
Actually, Josh wasn't even ranked in the top 10 at the time. That was his 3rd loss in a row. Ferguson only has one top 10 win -- against Barboza, who was ranked #10 by Sherdog at the time. In my opinion, Tony doesn't belong in title talks. For all the ppl crying about him not getting a title shot. Yeah hes on a very good streak but its not like hes been beating ranked guys left and right. Edson and Thomson are the only top 10 guys hes beaten and Josh is no longer in the UFC or a top 20 guy these days.
Rio, Kikuno and Trujillo are all unranked and mediocre or terrible fighters (Kikuno is washed, not the same guy from DREAM). Castillo is solid but many thought Ferg lost that fight. Tibau is always a tough fight for almost anyone, that was impressive even tho Tibau wasnt ranked.
I see ppl are comparing Fergs streak to guys like Hendricks and Holloway.....omm what
Hendricks beat 3 top 5 guys in Fitch, Kampmann and Carlos along with a top 10 guy in Kos. Holloway has beat 4 top 10 guys in a row including two top 5s in Cub and Lamas.
Assuncao had a 7 fight streak, undefeated at BW and 2 top wins against TJ and Caraway. Plus two very good wins against Eduardo and Munhoz. Yoel is undefeated @ MW, b2b top 5 wins, 1 top 10 win in Kennedy and 2 top 15 wins in Brunson and Tavares. Jacare had a great streak with a top 5 win in Okami and fringe top 5 in Gegard, along with guys like Brunson and Carmont who was top 10 at the time.
Tony simply doesnt have the quality of opposition going for him for most of his streak.
Truth is there are more than one guy deserving of a title shot @ LW right now and Tony is one of them but he doesnt stand out. Sucks for him LW is that stacked.
Nothing for Khabib? Let's not kid ourselves, Cerrone would crush Khabib if he couldn't lay on him for the whole fight. And Cerrone's not one to get grapplefucked.Better for Cerrone. Cerrone has nothing for Khabib. RDA is probably the second best in the LW division and Khabib made him look like a grappling debutant.
LoL. Whatever you say.
You know Khabib pulled out first right? How fucking stupid are you?Khabib would have fought Ferguson if Ferguson didn't fake an injury and duck him. I guess the pressure got to him.
The Thomson fight was closer than you're remembering. "Unholy violence" probably doesn't work with that fight.
