Chael made the most of his poor win-loss record, but Tom Aspinall doesn't believe he needs to sell himself out and act like a clown for 'views and money'.

Is he right?

Is he wrong?

Is there a way he can put himself in the spotlight without being a phony like Chael, Strickland or Colby?

Yeah.... fuck trying to make money I'm a fighter!

Tom is a true martial artist. So rare these days.

I personally feel Tom will be one of the great UFC heavyweights ever. I hope he can stay healthy.
Not if he continues to avoid fighting for the title due to his amazing "humbleness".

I love how mma fans always shit on pro wrestling and think they are above the way UFC promotes things that are akin to pro wrestling.

Fighting and WWE are always promoted the exact same way because they are selling the same thing, two guys have a conflict, give Us your money and you can see the resolution. DOY

but then when you have a dude like Tom Aspinall who doesnt want to whore himself out,you guys are like OMG WHAT AN IDIOT,ENTERTAIN US LIKE WWE SMH HE DOESNT HAVE GOOD MIC SKILL OMG

When you're a heavyweight that finishes people quickly, you don't really need a personality.
Derrick Lewis has made millions because he can crack a joke... marketability is a big deal... and "he wins" isn't marketability.

Hi, are you for or against Aspinall marketing himself... you literally made the point of both perspectives.

Maybe he needs Vince Mcmahon to help him

I am saying that people who bitch about shit being like WWE,should shut the fuck up. Its been like this in Boxing long before MMA.

I also say that its the fighters personal choice to be themselves . He doesnt want to do that, then that should be fine. He shouldnt have to change who he is just to please anyone,if he doesnt want to.

Not everyone has that in them.

I agree as long as he understands it could mean less money and he doesn't complain about that later. Tim Aspinoli isn't a big name to normal people, I doubt he sells tickets outside of Eurasia.

Strickland is being himself.

lol i can tell some fans just HATE when any fighter says they wont obey like circus monkey

YES YOU WILL,DONT TALK TO US LIKE THAT

"Listen pal,I stream your fights, you do what I want you to"

I'd love to see these marks tell Anderson Silva and Fedor that they can't make any money unless they start throwing dollies and saying betacucksoyboy over and over

It depends on short term and long term goals. Short term if you're okay at it. you can gain some notoriety and fast track yourself to higher profile fights and some cash. A lot of people can't sustain the trash talk and winning record before it catches up with them. Winning and conducting yourself with respect is better for the legacy. Chael definitely has a gift and I don't think he realizes not everyone can cut a good promo. He's Colby's ghost writer and colby can hardly come to 70% of chaels abilities.

Chael is just putting forth what the ufc wants people to hear

Yeah for sure. Him and Bisbing promote the business and there's other 'shadow' ufc channels that spout Dana's propaganda.

You don't have to act like a clown to sell yourself

Charisma sells, confidence sells, having a strong / memorable voice sells.
