I genuinely don't give a shit what people like that think.
I was watching a segment on a little show called
To the Contrary last night, and an interview with a UCLA professor named Yalda Uhls who was talking about the young generation, and how they view the world. She was making mostly accurate characterizations at first (whether those general perceptions are justified or not): talking about how they don't see the American dream as achievable, how they're deeply concerned about climate change, and so on.
Then she mentioned how they're the first generation that grew up with regular drills across the country to cope with school shootings. She talked about this impacted their mental health, and how it made them afraid. She starts talking about how not feeling safe has a massive impact on one's ability to succeed. At that point she says something so stupid I had to turn it off. She says, "It's so important, we think of things like staying warm, eating and drinking, it's even more important than that."
You stupid bitch, what goddamn fairy tale of a first world bubble do you inhabit where you could form this belief that
feeling safe is more important than physical sustenance, or anywhere near to it? These people are fucking deranged. They have no sense of proportion.
Not only that, but gimme a break. I grew up in a generation where we routinely carried out drills hiding under our desks as elementary school children in the case of a nuclear attack. LOL, it was so stupid when I think about it in retrospect, but it sure as hell was never as important to me as my midday baloney sandwich.
