Great scene. There are some other really good emotional payoff moments in that film, too- like when Ed Asner’s character is flipping through Ellie’s book of Adventures and sees the final message from her encouraging him to make his own adventures after her passing (followed by the blank pages remaining in the book). Or when he awards Russell the Ellie badge for his helping the elderly service at the end of the film. One of Pixar’s best in my opinion. Michael Giacchino’s score was awesome, too. He’s one of the best out there for film soundtrack composition at this point.
Ratatouille, Wall-E, Up, and Toy Story 3 in a three year span (07-10) might be the strongest run of the entire Pixar history.
