Both men I believe cut to be 265 so why not just say no weight limit?

Why not just call up Tim Sylvia and have a three man battle royale?

The UFC cares about some arbitrary weight limit for some reason. No weight limit would make for a better fight here imo

Because a weight limit encourages Hunt to actually train and be in some sort of shape.

Because potentially being able to shit-can the arguably biggest draw in the sport's history isn't reason enough?

The 265 limit is 'tarded. Here's another fight where both fighters would be better without it, like Struve - Bigfoot.

Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts

Ever heard of them?
There is a Super Heavyweight class of 266+, but the UFC doesn't use it because they haven't signed enough fighters to have a weight class for it.

This is a one time fight with Brock though & both guys cut to 265 pounds so they should be given the option to fight at Super Heavyweight if they want to. If I was Hunt, I'd push strongly against it though. Neither guy is as big as they were, but the added muscle weight from Brock would give him an advantage in grappling & getting Hunt down.

Open weight would illegitimize the winner and prevent them from moving up in the HW ranks and make it a harder to sell the winner as title contention worthy.

so tell me what weight class was Cyborg in for her last fight?
The Travesty weight limit. AKA Shouldnthavehappened weight limit. It was a FW fight in the UFC which has no FW division. The fight made zero sense.

Why bother having any fucking rules at all, including drug testing ?

Why do people insist on such inane ideas ?

Regardless if the fight made sense, the UFC did a fight in which they have no weight class therefore setting the precedent to have a SHW fight which was my original point. We don't need Brady on Brady crime here though

You said it was arbitrary. It's not. It's a defined limit for HW, not some number picked at random for no reason. That was my point. If there is a chance for Brock to fight more times HW makes more sense even if SHW was on the table.

I think they should be forced to be at least 400 lbs.

It is arbitrary and not based on anything. What's the reason for the 265 limit? There's no cap on HW in boxing and my original point stands that there's no need for 2 guys that weigh 290 to cut to 265 when they are fighting each other. The whole 265 limit is silly anyway. And again the UFC set the precedent with the Cyborg fight. It's basically the same thing as Franklin fighting at 195 and Cyborg at 140

There is a SHW division in UFC, its in the official rules, but they just choose not to use it. There has been SHW before under Zuffa. Semmy Schilt vs Williams. Gan Mc Gee vs Barnett. these fights were SHW fights in UFC.

Dude some guys would be pretty unfair if you could have no limit.

Bigfoot can carry a legit 300+ on his frame
