I mean she's has laser eyes, she's not a normal human. Not to mention she's also resurrected via an Eternity super wish, she could be all kinds of powerful now, which might be why he's raising her to be a hero versus giving her a home with the Asgard kids

Quill is the only human in GoTG (and half at that)
But the whole story is dumb. Gorr came off as a normal humanoid figure when he was introduced, and he got his power from an evil sword. She should be the same. To then revive his daughter and she comes back with god powers... ? Why? Why would resurrection come with laser eyes and super strength?
Why is Eternity granting wishes? What does Thor know about raising a child?
Aesthetically, it just looks dumb seeing a little girl running around with a weapon that is bigger than her. The weapon that took a sun to forge and chopped off Thanos' head is now being used by a 10 year old? Too much for me.

It was alright and pretty much what I expected - a PG version of the God Butcher story. I felt like it was a waste of a good "bad guy" character. It was just too kid friendly. tThe story and character of Gorr deserve better than another kid friendly, cookie cutter marvel film.

I gave it 7/10 - because Bale was great (although at times I felt like he was veering a bit too much towards his version of Heath's Joker). Oh and buff Natalie Portman - I want to be dominated by her <{ohyeah}><{jackyeah}>

Also it is marvel so it delivered on that - I turned my mind off and just tried to enjoy it.

Its going to take multiple Marvel movies making hundreds of millions less than they expect for this to be true.
Yeah even as shitty as this one is , it had a $70 million dollar Friday and on track for $140 million for the weekend which is higher than Ragnarok.

Not defending the explanation (or lack thereof) behind it, but that wasn't something that I took issue with, cause they are least established prior she wasn't normal whether that was just her or her species (I assume we'll get more info if she shows up again and isn't dumped off on someone else after all)

I don't mean about the worthiness aspect of it. Back in Infinity War, Thor told the Guardians that they couldn't wield Stormbreaker because the power of the weapon would destroy their minds and bodies.

and now 10 year olds can handle it no problem. Not just about the power of the weapon, but it looks ridiculous physically seeing a child use a ginormous mega axe
tbf, Korg's narration said she has the power of a god. Still stupid af

Not sure how I would score this one, felt like different movies crammed together. Bale was great and needed more screen time, Thor is pretty much a dumb jock alot of the time and Jane kept fishing for a catch phrase.

Needed more action and more Bale, show us hes a threat and that they should fear him. My girlfriend enjoyed the movie but it lost me often, especially when they went to see a certain god, it was so over the top and weird.

I enjoyed it, although I also enjoyed all the other Marvel movies this year.

Not as good as Ragnarok as others have said

no Loki?? I thought for sure he would pop up in the end with a "I hear you are after God's" and do some mischievous stuff like not really being there but rather an illusion. But hey we get some powered up kids, rolleyes

She's clearly an avatar of Eternity. You could even see it in the reflection when she walks towards Gorr before he dies. Might still be stupid af lol

Well ultimately if they actually figure out the grand antagonist driving phase 4 that kind of power will be needed , since the Eternals have the Celestials as enemies and even Shan-Chi has possession of rings that probably have Cosmic or Mystic Origin. Hopefully the Person in charge of what ever the Finale Flick of Pahse 4 is , will be as competent as the Russos , I hope Marvel moved on from Waititi.

Saw it with my kid. All I have to say is that I was distracted by how much weight Pratt has been cutting. What's the deal with that?

This movie was a zero right up until they landed on the Black and White planet. A zero. Like thinking to myself "holy shit, am I going to have to walk out of this turd?" bad.
But then it was great. Solid, inspired action sequences, legit feels. How do you grade a movie like that? I'm giving it a 4. The movie needed another hour to tell this story properly.
When they realize they couldn't in the time allotted, and they should have realized that, they should have gone in a different direction. OR... turn it into 2 movies. Would've earned it.

And why tag on some kid to the next movie? That wasn't Thor's agreement to adopt his fucking kid? Now we have to deal with the 1st 40 minutes of the next movie explaining that bullshit. Stupid. I don't like this Waki guy I think he's overrated as fuck. Hopefully they get a new director who doesn't dress Thor up in shiny plastic bullshit.

If you take some of the scenes out of the context of a total shit show, then Crowe's Zeus was pretty funny. Otherwise, can't think of anything redeeming about the 1st half.

Poor Sif. How long does Marvel have her enslaved to this franchise? Fucking use her or kill her off with dignity.

And I was wrong about the Brood, or should I say Wakiki was wrong about the Brood?

Well said, as usual.

I didn't mind some of the early stuff. But there were a lot of bits that fell flat. The b&w planet was sick because it was Bale at his creepiest and the cinematography was cool. As you said, it got better from there.

Still, wish it could have succeeded as a cogent whole. Honestly, I liked Eternals pretty substantially better than it and definitely preferred Black Widow and Doctor Strange 2 as well.

I think Shang-Chi, in addition to being entertaining, had the most narrative coherence to it of these recent MCU films.

No Way Home was pretty much a slam dunk for me but that had a lot to do with nostalgia and the big names they brought back.

Such a waste of an incredible actor. Every review I've read or heard agrees on one thing: Bale acts his ass off, as he always does. And Gorr's scenes, especially at the beginning, are the best things about this movie.

Funny, but when the very first trailer dropped, I said that it looked like Bale was almost in a different movie from the rest of the cast. Turns out he was in a better one.

And there's the tonal inconsistency a lot of reviewers were complaining about because every sequence Bale was in was super intense and virtually every other scene (aside from some of the more poignant moments between Portman and Hemsworth) was like a zany comedy.

Bale is one of those guys who pretty much always gives stellar performance. Him being really good didn't surprise me one bit. And I was pleasantly surprised because I saw a couple of critics in those early reaction blurbs say that Bale was underutilized. I figured he didn't have much screentime but that was wrong. He was in a big chunk of the film.

I'll echo alot of the thoughts that have already been expressed. The movie was good but not great. The first half was way too comedic and disjointed. The second half was much better, and Bale was great. Ending was disappointing. Phase 4 has not been good outside of No Way Home. No coherent storyline has developed so far. Maybe we will look back later and will be able to put all the pieces together. But, as of now, I have no idea where the overall storyline is going. It was inevitable that there would be a let down after the end of phase 3. No way that they could recreate that magic. We're getting into more obscure characters and lesser known storyline. But, there is still hope with the F4 and X-Men on the horizon.
