If he's finally going to start getting consistent with at the bare minimum two/three fights a year he mops up everybody in the division.

Dricus is very allround and very strong but I feel like not technical enough to stop the shot and the submission.

Will eat crazy levels of crow if Dricus beats him, but other than him nobody in the division has anything for Khamzat

Maybe. Dricus and Caio are very good grapplers, though, and Imavov's wrestling looks to be improving too. Most importantly, they're all big guys, not welter weights, and they have healthy teeth.

My money's on DDP if he defends against Khamzat.

Khamzat, as we know, is a fucking bulldozer in R1 so that's obviously going to be an edgy round for DDP, but after that I can see it being one way traffic to be honest.

DDP is so damn strong and quirky that I can't see Khamzat being able to get him out of there in 5 minutes. It's a lot to ask. The pressure really would be on Khamzat to achieve a specific goal in a short space of time, because after that he's getting cooked let's be honest.

Yeah, I don't like Chimaev. He's a mentally handicapped goon, and his nuthugger fans are even worse. But the way things look in the MW division, I think he takes the belt fairly easily and keeps it as long as he wants.

It's true, and that's probably why Strickland is verbally attacking him every week.

The guy knows that he's far from a power puncher of course, so Chim really has nothing to be afraid of against him.

With DDP there's that factor of awkward looking punches actually landing hard though. It's a tough fight no doubt.

imavov got taken down and controlled for a round by allen and also got taken down by cannonier IIRC. I don't think he has a good defensive wrestling compared to dricus/caio or even whittaker

Yes, but imavov was never in danger at all, and allen is a very big submission threat. Honestly, I think chimaev takes anyone down. It's just a matter of whether or not these guys are good enough to survive the first 8 minutes, and I think Dricus, Caio, and maybe imavov might be.

been a long time where MW has fighters that will use takedowns and grapple like ddp and khamzat

I like Strickland but yeah DDP vs Khamzat was 1000 times more compelling than the Strickland vs DDP rematch....I guess if Strickland wins it's still a good fight with him and Khamzat, he could certainly drown Khamzat if he is able to survive the first round. But the DDP vs Khamzat matchup in particular is the most interesting.

that and DDP is strong like bull and won't settle for bad positions. he'll scramble and force Khamzat to work. he also will be relentless when it's his turn to go.
