This is why people should love McGregor

The UFC is the PROMOTION plain and simple. Look how much time, money and effort went into promoting Sage. If even half of that effort would have been put behind RDA or Lawler then yes, they would be bringing in big numbers.

I'm not sure why pointing out how a promotional company promoting upsets you so much.
Well kind of hard to promote fighters who don't have a personality. And yes that plays a role in it. RDA can't even speak English well and Lawler hardly speaks altogether.

If other champs got the same push from the promotion that Conor gets they could bring in the revenue.

I disagree. You can push a guy to be a star but if he has the personality of drying soap what is the point? Have you ever seen Cain or Weidman in an interview? Or Aldo for that matter? Painful... RDA is no better. The fact is many of the top fighters are very unmarketable. The UFC promoted Cain like crazy, played up the whole brown pride thing and he still had very little outside the ring pop.

Truth.

I like Lawler, but his interviews are sleep-inducing.

McGregor is always gonna give you a funny sound-bite, guaranteed.

I don't call myself a Mcgregor fan, but I respect the hell out of his work ethic regardless of the reasons for it.

Have to admit, whether it's merely due to chance or not, the fact that these opponent pull outs have become the biggest obstacle in the way of possibly the most ambitious run we've seen in MMA are making me a bigger McGregor fan.

Don't fight it, brother. Embrace the GOAT

If other Champs were as compelling and talented as Conor, they would get pushed just as hard.

McGregor fans always wants an excuse to shit on other fighters. Despite the fact that the UFC clearly gave McGregor special treatment from the beginning of his career, McGregor himself got seriously injured some time ago and spent more than a year out of activity.

Maybe if others could sell themselves as well as McGregor has done, they would. He's good with the media and puts on exciting fights, it's not hard to figure out why the got behind him.

i.e. before he ever stepped into the octagon, he had Ariel calling him "the best guest ever".

If other champs got paid what the UFC gives McGregor, they'd be just as active.

Well maybe those other champs should give the UFC a reason to give them COnor money. You people act like Conor was some first overall pick living off his draft position or something. Conor is in the position hes in because he put himself there. The fuckin asshole has a nation behind him that travel with him like hes Led Zeppelin in the 80s.

First be active, kick ass, promote yourself and bring more money to the company. Then get the push, whatever matchup you want and the money.

Yeah...it's UFC favoritism because they just intrinsically love conor. Stop being an idiot.

i certainly respect mcgregor for this reason. he's game to fight anyone... heck, jon jones turned down a last minute fight against friggin chael! wtf!? so yeah, lots of respect for mcgregor. but i still can't stand him. he's a douchebag.

If they want to bring more money in they're going to have to gain popularity and being inactive won't do that

I have been a little slow to warm up to McGregor myself, and admittedly have questioned him leading into both the Mendez and Aldo fights. But I totally agree with you.

I have a hard time understanding how fans of the sport don't respect Conor's activity, his fighting style, his confidence, and the attention he brings to the sport.

The whole point of this fight was Conor moving up for a title. The fact that he is fighting anyone at all as a replacement should be respected.

Conor has nothing to gain and everything to lose.

I wonder how many injuries are caused by caveman training.

Conor got the push bc he was marketing himself hard from the get go. I agree the ufc could promote their champs a lot better, but it isn't like they randomly selected mcgregor & plastered his face everywhere.
