Dana isn't as much of a "boss" as you might think. GSP, at any point he chooses, can drop that belt and never fight for the UFC again. What can they do? Nothing.

On top of that, I'd be willing to wager a fuck load of money that all it's gonna take is ONE fighter with enough financial capital (like GSP or McGregor) to wage a long legal battle with the UFC, and in the end it'd more than likely be determined that the UFC contracts as they stand now are unenforceable. I'd bet that a court would rule a fighter can be contracted out only on a fight-by-fight basis and choose the promotion he pleases. The UFC is gonna pick a legal fight with the wrong fighter one day, if they try to either force a fighter to fight or try to forcibly keep them from another company.

GSP can do whatever he wants, and so can Conor, as much as it pains me to say that.

No way it does lower than Conor's last couple MMA fights. He's more popular than he's ever been and GSP is the next biggest star in the sport.
 
Why would he be angry if a WW doesn't keep fighting at MW?

Oh yea, it was a cheap money grab making a WW who hasn't fought in years fight the MW champion. And now he wants this circus freakshow fight to have a sequel or two and if he doesn't get his way he'll be super duper pissed.

Don't make the rules so fucking dumb, and you won't have to worry if people play your dumb fuck game, Dana.

They can't make him fight. He's not even an employee of the UFC, more like contract labor. GSP can renegotiate his contract, which happens in all sports, or he can honor the contract, or he can retire, and there is nothing the UFC can do about it. The UFC's only power with law is to stop him from fighting for another promotion unless he fulfills his contract.

I don't see how you can like him. Maybe he has not thrown your favs under the bus yet. But here is clear case, which he does all the time, him dogging GSP after just a month from winning title vs Conor who can do no wrong no matter 1 year not defending FW or over 1 year at LW.

The Diaz brothers are my all time favs, so yeah he's shit on them in the media more than once. What can I say I like the guy.
