Mr Ojeda is leading a heavily RED district for being a democrat instead of Republican light/corporatist/ DLC chump.

The Young Turks? They just ruined this man's chances. It's like being offcially endorsed by Rachel Maddow or Sean Hannity.

That's called a DINO. He doesn't represent the views of his state, and he doesn't represent the views of his party.
He's also not "leading" in his race, so this is probably the last we'll hear of him.

I agree there are optic issues on the left. Betasoyboycucks only make up a small percentage yet grab headlines, damn pajama boy didn't help their cause. They could get a boost for uhc by running some ads of actual dudes helping each other out with a rocky like montage and big muscles giving each other the bro hand shakes. Dillion you sonofbitch, thanks for the healthcare

There are tens of millions of Americans who identify with both political parties. If people are dumb enough to fall for the game of "pick out the worst examples and say that they are representative of the whole group," there's not really anything anyone can do about it.

Sean hannity routinely sucks off the president. His endorsement isn't a bad thing.

Sure there are, you can run media ads, showing that middle ground is way more common than extreme fringes. People believe what media tells them to, Republicans are better at exploiting and manipulating that.

This guy is awesome. I wish him a lot of success

Honestly, I genuinely do like this guy.

His policies aren't any different than those of the vast majority of Democrats, though. The only real difference is optics. But that's what matters to most of the country.

It's easier to fool someone than to convince someone they've been fooled, and all that.

The core policies that nearly every right-winger here will attribute to the Democrats as the reason they will not support them (wanting to recognize1000 genders, wanting open borders, wanting massive gun confiscation, etc.) are literally nowhere to be found in the party.

Hell, how many times have we seen Obama called out by the right for being an "open borders" president? Kind of shocking since net migration sunk to negative levels for the first time in half a century under Obama and border deportations rose to all-time highs.

But the dems never advertise themselves as non beta / more everyman. They are unfairly labeled but they dont take the helm at getting a different image out there. Dems try to take high roads which hurt markability

Republicans embrace no holds barred street fights while dems continuously set the board up for a friendly game of checkers

I figured this thread ended with this post. But people are still posting in it. Why? It's over folks.

Millions of Oxy pills to a town of thousands, with two pharmacies on the same street

It’s not a secret, they moved up i95 from there

I thought the bad optics were hand in cookie jar like republicans. I mean he even brings up Nancy Polosi in his ad in not so flattering ways. Democrats need to get back to working for the people who elected them not the donors. That may mean different things too and not a united front. Like this guy in West Virginia coal country will be different than someone in San Fran who are very much environmentalist minded.

The main take away from this story is people want representation and even a democrat in a red state can win if he/she is willing to represent.

I think this populism wave explains the Bernie and Trump insurgencies in their respective party as well as people like ocasio cortez and Ojeda in this midterm.

Nobody wants literal "open borders", it's hyperbole (possibly to reach the lowest common denominator) and you know what it means. Don't play dumb.
Hillary wanted to double the number of refugees the US accepts every year, Obama created the DREAM act to allow a lot of illegals to stay in the country. That's what people call "open borders", compared to "closed borders" like Trump that banned refugees and wanted to ban muslims.
There is also what they want and what they can do. Trump cannot really build a wall or ban all muslims, but he probably wanted to. Obama cannot confiscate guns, but he probably would impose something akin to Californian gun laws if he could.

Southern border migration was negative during Obama's term for the first time in post-New Deal history. And border removals (deportations/apprehensions) spiked to an all-time high.

"Open borders" is kind of self-explanatory, and you wouldn't use it to describe the most rigidly closed-border president in US history unless you were a drooling idiot. Right?

Hillary wanted to double the number of refugees the US accepts every year

In response to the greatest refugee crisis in modern history. Strange how you would fail to mention that. But, no, Hillary Clinton just randomly wanted to flood her country with random brown people, despite the fact that she's as white as a lily.

Obama created the DREAM act to allow a lot of illegals to stay in the country.

LOL.

The DREAM Act was introduced in 2001 and reintroduced in 2006.

Obama was elected in 2008. Obama literally had nothing to do with the DREAM Act.

Came in expecting hotties. :(

Adios

Oh come on Jack, why do you always spout lies in your partisan support of the Dems? It doesn't help you at all when you attempt to sound reasonable in later threads as then we know it's all a ruse.

It was Obama that mandated public schools allow a kid to use whatever bathroom/locker room they feel like. https://www.cnn.com/2014/08/26/health/obamacare-transgender-surgery/index.html. Article about how ObamaCare made gender conversion drugs covered by insurance as a pre existing needed condition

https://www.cnn.com/2018/07/02/politics/abolish-ice-democrats-list/index.html
List of Democrat politicians who want to abolish ICE. Most notable is Elizabeth Warren

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/co...force-gun-owners-sell-assault-weapons-n871066
And here is just one of many instance of a Democrat politicians calling to "Ban assault weapons, buy them back, go after resistors, and criminally prosecute any who choose to defy"

Heck, California already did essentially confiscate weapons. If you didn't massively, massively modify your AR-15 it became illegal to own if you kept it. No grandfather clauses. Parts of Illinois as well.

No, people react to strong emotions, not calm reasoned policy pieces from the center, and the Republicans have no morals so they work harder to exploit and manipulate using FUD.
