This is type of Democrats we need.

Nobody wants literal "open borders", it's hyperbole (possibly to reach the lowest common denominator) and you know what it means. Don't play dumb.

Really? So when hacks say that Democrats want open borders, they don't really mean it? I've never seen any of them admit that.

Hillary wanted to double the number of refugees the US accepts every year, Obama created the DREAM act to allow a lot of illegals to stay in the country. That's what people call "open borders", compared to "closed borders" like Trump that banned refugees and wanted to ban muslims.

Neither of those issues even relate to border security (in addition to the second claim being batshit crazy). Clinton was proposing a very small number of refugees actually, though I don't know how it compare to the current level. The U.S. doesn't let many in.

Mr Ojeda is leading a heavily RED district for being a democrat instead of Republican light/corporatist/ DLC chump.

He's being a conservative populist. You guys on the left used to call them blue dogs.

Oh, and that's always done well in WV.

Meh, as a democrat, all he does is strengthen that party. Nice words and all but he'd just vote the party line like everyone else.

They could get a boost for uhc by running some ads of actual dudes helping each other out with a rocky like montage and big muscles giving each other the bro hand shakes. Dillion you sonofbitch, thanks for the healthcare

Article about how ObamaCare made gender conversion drugs covered by insurance as a pre existing needed condition
Doesn't this make sense though? Its right wingers who relentlessly call gender dysphoria a mental illness(and they have a point since it is recognized as such in the most recent DSM) but suddenly it shouldn't be covered? If you don't think it should be covered do you not believe that it is a mental illness?

Isn't LASIK eye surgery still uncovered?

It shouldn't be covered for puberty blockers and hormone treatments

You don't treat anorexic kids by giving them diet pills and appetite suppressants

How should we treat gender dysphoria then?

The corporations have this country by the balls and give nothing back to society.

How should we treat gender dysphoria then?

1) Not encouring it as a potential option to be actively pursued as our public schools' policies force schools and counselors to do

2) Encourage a boys/girls can do or feel (emotionally) anything the opposite sex does. The current trans push only serves to reinforce gender stereotypes and that if you don't fit neatly into a box, there's something wrong with you.

3) if a person greatly persists and feels they're the wrong gender, then they're welcome to use their own pocket money to pay for whatever they want after they're 18 and can understand the long term affecta they're going to be doing to their body

My hope would be that a person can learn to accept themselves as they are by then, and at least knows what they're doing if not

Insurance companies consider it cosmetic for some reason. Numbah one bullshit if you ask me.

The reason is because the government allows it, in spite of "cosmetic" being a farce. Glad you agree it's irrational. Would love to see someone make the good reason case for government instead choosing gender blah blah to force upon private insurance.

Why shouldn't it be covered by insurance after they're turned 18? Do you not believe that its a legitimate illness?

The reason its considered cosmetic is because its often not required as glasses/contacts are often enough to remedy most issues with eye sight.

That's a rationalization to support the decision not to cover it. Cosmetics are a matter of personal preference. It's not a fact that glasses or no glasses is attractive. What is a fact is that LASIK corrects the problem glasses/contacts are designed for and it does a better job in the sense that patients aren't bound to having those devices at your disposal. Comparatively, it's a permanent fix.

Glasses are a permanent fix too though and they are covered. Its cosmetic in the sense that for most people who get them, they just want to stop using glasses and not because glasses aren't good enough.
