They Live log.

Yes, they're both PC exercises and use much the same musculature. But with GMs the focus is hip extension (which is a big part of squatting, deadlifting among many things). Plus you're also practicing keeping the upper back tight and driving the bar back, so you're reinforcing elements of squat technique.

GHRs are primarily a knee flexion exercise, and you're not going to be reinforcing any technical elements of squats, deadlifts or anything like that. The benefit of GHRs, other than working the PC muscles, is that getting in a good amount of volume with knee flexion exercises will help keep the knees healthy.

So you'd do them for different reasons. I think that while GHRs are a good exercise, they're not an exercise to put too much intensity or effort into. Just work up to being able to do a whole bunch of reps. Then gradually add resistance to that whole bunch of reps. Like how you might train face-pulls or rear delts.

I agree GMs and GHRs are not interchangeable in any way.

Imo, as a very general guideline, I'd be good to have a hip extension exercise like GMs as a heavy assistance exercise (say 3-10 rep range), and a knee flexion exercise as more moderate-intensity assistance exercise (say 5-20 rep range).

Extremely good responses, thanks a lot guys.
Looks like I will be doing GMs today. The assistance split also calls for leg curls, I would imagine since that is also a knee flexion exercise that I can swap them? I am not really a fan of leg curls.

I can taste it. I just have to be smart, keep working on technique and it's there. My pull is decent but my technique is garbage.

64 reps is too many.

How is grip a problem with pressing?

Yeah, but I'm a boss, so it doesn't matter. Thanks for pointing that out. i didn't notice the typo.

My clean and press grip are different. And I also use a false grip, so it was a bitch switching everything after the clean.

I saw the word "punch" in a comment, so it gives me a reason to post this
