That's where the title came from.

i came here to chew bubble gum and lift and i am all out of gum.

i have a busy week ahead of me. i may not be able to log everything. I'll try though. i also slightly injured myself in the press. i didn't think it was anything at the time, however it's causing some discomfort. considering it's the fucking spine that hurts i'll be taking off till Tuesday or Wednesday.

training notes: i figure i should train my press more intelligently. i am not too sure how i will do that. when it's all figured out I'll post it.

Videos and diet notes are the reason I come to your log. Though I am not sure you will ever post a video that makes me smile as much as the one above.

Well never say never.

*diet notes.

i demolished a whole pumpkin pie. a whole can of whip cream included.

Good to see you're taking the time to heal, rather than trying to "tough it out". We've all made that mistake. Get well soon, man. :icon_chee

thanks man.

i was going to do something today. however my plans went to shit. i did some clean and snatch form work in place of said plans.

95 lbs x 100 on both lifts.

25 reps on the full clean.

4 sets of 50 reps squat 95 lbs high bar form work.

notes
back is still bugging me a smidge, although it's feeling much better.

the first ten reps on the clean hurt my left wrist. it was an odd pain, however the next 90 repetitions i didn't feel it. i am perhaps i need to do some wrist stretching before doing any sort of cleans.

Or relax your hands more.

I'll try remembering that. although i don't think i was squeezing my hands, or am i misunderstanding ?

No, you were correct. But what often happens is that you grip the bar a little too tightly making it difficult to relax when receiving the bar. This is a small thing, but can sometimes be important. Your hands should be nothing more than hooks when you pull the bar, and less than that, simple placeholders, when you rack the bar. With the bar properly racked, your hands should be, well, I have to use an analogy.

If you have a long shelf off books, but no bookends, and you tilt one book over at the end to hold them in place, and it leans against them enough to do so without bending or falling? Your hands should be similar to this.

By they way, in your video if you would have added a forward lock and possibly a couple of turns to your rock-step, I would have given you high marks for the cha-cha.

Damn it. i needed those high marks for the Cha-cha.

I am stupid. I said I was off till Wednesday, but Tuesday is fine right ?

Strict Press

10 sets of 3 reps. 165 lbs. sixty seconds in between sets.

Bradford Press

115 lbs 3 sets of 10.

close grip floor press

115 lbs 2 sets of 5.

i think this article influenced my sets and reps scheme today.

i shouldn't ever let that happen.

notes

my back feels great.

Titty pink is good.

i am pissed. i rise up on my toes during the OHP. so it's tainted my 200 lb press.... why..... WHY !? Life is indeed cruel.

I'll upload the video later. i screamed once again. that seems to happen after a lot of PR attempts. i am going to avoid gyms..

hopefully Arlecchino doesn't see that "power clean". that was ugly.

Edit: Just Some Notes.

I Did My Warm Ups Differently.

I used A Strict Military press Rather than A OHP. On Each Rep I Pressed Like It Was My Max.

So much win in the video! Nice work!

thanks. out of curiosity, was the win me dumping the bar ? or the scream at the end ?

It was 3 things:

1) the effort put fourth in getting it over your head
2) the careless dumping behind you and walk-away
3) the music!

1) i guess i get an A for effort ?
2.)i don't dump the bar so carelessly usually. however, there was no way i could have lowered it.
3) currently cult of a personality is the perfect song for OHPressing. However, for all i know there is a better choice.

i got a new toy. i call it "beelzebub", it's a homemade fat-bar dumbbell. it's actually one the ends of my now broken temporary barbell. i can only kroc row 90 for 20 now. which well sucks, considering i was repping 140 lbs for 20 on a regular grip.

it's a fat ass dumbell 6 and half inches.

fixed my barbell, buying another cheapy on Friday till i can get my bumper set.

squats.

135 x5

205 x5

245 x 3 (very easy. although i have a slight lean forward, it's somewhat a habit from my low-bar form.)

300 x 0 (i still can't get this shit up from the bottom. i know i can do it, however i can't seem to do it from the bottom.)

i kinda got mad and just fucking left. i am getting a bit frustrated.

BTW, I did see your power clean.

Oh, snap.

If you have time, you might go through yours point-by-point like I did and see what you can illustrate/do better. That way is actually much better than me pointing it out.

I've actually been doing that. along with the catch, i can work on getting under the bar, rather than relying on my power to get the sumna bitch up. i could also add a slight shrug as well.i can also pull my shoulder blades together.

i deadlifted 275 for warm ups. stupid ? yes, easy ? fuck yes. very very smooth.

275 x 5
295x3
345x2
385 x 1
my lock-out has gotten better. it's still not even close to where i want it however.

power clean form work.

i am still doing this. however, i wanted to log on and leave a couple of notes before i forget. My normal foot placement is a bit too close, so I've spread it out a bit. that seems to have solved a couple of problems. also as soon as I've done this everything else got better.
sets reps
135 lbs 4 x 5
155 lbs 3 x 3
185 lbs 15 x 3 (i accidentally did 15 sets. shit happens though. last set was shit. is stopped, next time i want 195 with better form. and then so on. long term progress is the plan baby !)

snatch form work.

sets reps
135 lbs 3 x 3
135 lbs 2 x 3
135 lbs 1 x 3

^ Teh plan.
