There was nothing questionable about the Lawler/Koscheck stoppage

Mr Lawler possesses very heavy hands. A few more blows and that poor boys jaw would have been destroyed.

ok honestly, wtf what koscheck doing? am i missing something or is a good wrestler like him whos a blackbelt in bjj supposed to know when to get up and not stay turtled like that? right before koscheck got tko I said is this fight fixed?? you can tell in that gif that koscheck had no weight on him and could of got up but decided to stay turtled and getting punched like that? not saying im an expert on the subject but it did look fucked to me right away

if anything Kos should thank that Herb Dean stopped it when he did. Else Lawler could have just kept unloading on him, KO his ass into oblivion

lol@people talking about that stoppage. ridiculous.

nothing wrong with it

early stoppage and most agree them > u

How do people know his eyes went glossy when you couldnt even see his eyes?

robbie landed a big knee right before he sprawled on kos, that's what started it off. after the knee you can see kos loosen his grip on lawler's legs, then lawler landed that big punch and finished with the GNP.

With early stoppages you have to ask yourself what would happen next.

Josh was dazed but still conscious and defending himself slightly (he even slipped one of the punches). But from that awkward position lying on his left shoulder his ability to defend himself was limited.

What would happen next? He would just take more and more damage. He wasn't about to do any fancy manouevuer to get out of there. He couldn't defend himself much the way he was lying on his shoulder. Therefore the stoppage was justified and helped prevent him taking more damage.

Well I think the problem is that there isn't much consistency. For example, in Barry vs Kongo, Kongo was allowed to take a huge number of shots and was able to recover and win the fight whereas Herb stopped this fight far more quickly when Koscheck was hurt.

the only reason Koscheck was able to recover is because Lawler was pulled of him. Kongo recovered on his own. had Lawler not been stopped, Kos would be a vegetable

seriously I haven't seen a stoppage that bad since Hendo/Bisping. I think people just wanted to see Koscheck continue to get hit

it looked like kos was letting robbie lawler punch him in the face, and considering no sane person would allow robbie lawler to punch them in the face i thought it was a fair stoppage

The stoppage was fine. Kos was a dead man and wasn't going to recover from that. Lawler was bouncing his head off the canvas like a basketball

the end result is anytime a fighter is not defending him/her self the fight should be stopped. with the exception on title fights, because with title fights it seems like the ref gives the fighters each 3 get out of jail free cards each. example lesnar vs carwin that fight should have been stopped 3 times at least in the 1st round.

as someone mentioned earlier i think kos got rocked by a knee just prior to that onslaught and it looked like he was regaining his wits while he was taking punches. i would have like to see it go a few more seconds to see if koscheck would have tried to bump him off with his legs but it wasn't looking very good for him.

when i was watching it with my buddies we thought it looked like he basically gave up but i guess that'll happen when you are taking bombs from lawler.

Is Koscheck intelligently defending himself? No.

If you don't want the ref stepping in, don't get in such stupid positions.

Kos wasn't out though, and he could've won that fight, but the line must be drawn somewhere. Herb did his usual fine job! Better than that women, letting guys almost die in there.

He started turtling up after that knee, and then looked like he went out for a split-second during the GnP.

It's Dean's job to protect you, if you don't want the fight stopped put your hands up and defend yourself.

Waking up isn't really a defense.

Koschecks head was bouncing off the canvas like a basketball, but he was fine as soon as it was stopped.

Excellent stoppage imo. Robbie's reputation helped out too, dude has heavy hands. He was landing flush GnP. Koscheck was clearly out of it or he woulda tried to cover up somewhat.

When watching the fight I thought it was stopped too early and thought so as soon as it was stopped. With watching the gif posted in the first of this thread, I am more sure than before that it was stopped early. Josh was fine. He wasn't out of it. No reason for a stoppage at that point.

Really?

So when you watch this, you're thinking; that guy is doing fine?

dude was staring into space with his head being bounced off the canvas.

he was done.

Brock was actually defending consciously, if only barely - hands before the face, pushing Carwin away with his legs etc.

Mir was allowed to eat too many strawberries indeed, no question.

lol no. You got it all wrong.
Lesnar was landing like one punch every minute. So that fight was rightfully let going.
Carwin was landing 1000 punch every second. That fight should have been stopped.

This fight was a clear example of an early stoppage. Not because Rogan said it. lol
