She was outclassed by the better fighter and only made it to the 5th round because Nunes was being cautious with her cardio. Pennington served as the unathletic punching bag for Nunes

There isn't a positive spin for that entire fight, nor it being a PPV main.

This fight was a wash from the getgo

She actually did pretty well. Landed a few good shots and made it competitive.
I think that's a pretty positive spin.

Really a shame that she tried to quit between rounds 4 and 5.

Yeah this is about as demoralising a defeat as it is possible to have. Lost in every dimension, tried to quit on the stool, ended the fight covered in blood, doubled over and giving up.

Her payday was probably decent. Plus, she can say she main evented a UFC ppv.

Wasnt much expectation going in tbh

I think she did as well as Nunes would allow her to do. Nunes is a great fighter but has to perserve cardio with the flashbacks of ufc 178 still there

She had no business fighting nunes she had nothing for nunes i can't believe nunes made her quit.

Meh, she had some moments.

She landed her right hand fairly frequently in the earlier rounds. It just didn't have enough power on it to push Nunes back.

Tbh Pennington herself didn't seem that phased by Nunes' hands. It was the destruction of her front leg that put her on the retreat. Then the knee that broke Pennington's nose was really the moment that put Rocky well and truly out of the fight.

Certainly a very dominant performance by Nunes, but some of these posts are a tad over-dramatic.

There IS a positive "spin." The sympathy sex with Tiny Tornado is gonna be phenomenal after what happened to her.

I'm not really into the armchair psychology that is so ubiquitous in MMA online communities, but she really seemed like she didn't want to be there. When she tried to be a little more aggressive, she was fairly successful, but it seemed like she was more comfortable in defense mode and backing herself against the cage. I was rooting for her.

Hopefully the Lioness can break Ronda's defense record and erase her from history.
