Man, I like Pena but that poster is right lol. Pena's wins almost always aren't impressive for some reason or another.

Like, yeh, she won TUF . . . but she did it beating cans. In the final she beat a 37 year old who was 1-3 as a pro at the time and who lost her next fight and then never fought again, retiring at 1-5.

The upset against Nunes was badass, but she lured Nunes into a 3 minute brawl lol. When Nunes didn't fight like an idiot in the rematch, she completely outclassed her. if Pena had won that or at least been competitive, it would have looked great.

And her other wins are always a tad weird. Beat a few bums. Nicco, who wasn't good and retired after with barely a winning record. Got choked out by GDR while she had GDR mounted. Then she got handled for 2 rounds easily by Mcmann before Mcmann tired in the third like she literally always does and was able to get the finish.

And then the Pennington fight. I thought she won 3-2, but it was hardly an impressive performance.

I think Amanda switched south paw for that fight and that's what gave Pena all the issues.

I think Amanda can't fight her orthodox because Pena can land her jab really well on her for some reason

So is Carla Esparza for 3/4 of those things unfortunately she has one of the worst title fights instead. I guess atleast she didn't get 50-45'd in the rematch against her best wins. What is special about Pena to make her a hall of famer? We have 4 separate 2x champs in women's divisions, 2 ultimate fighter season winners and Holm's upset of Rousey pretty much ran her out of the sport.

All Pena's accomplishments have been done before.

You better knock it off with Carla disrespect she had to beat Angela Hill who had 1 fight in a garage or casino to her name, Tecia who had 4 fights and Rose who had 3 fights. If you don't think that's legit, I don't know what will impress you.

Nunes can fight her any stance, bro. Switching to south paw just made some things easier.

If you ever rewatch that fight, look at the clock from the second Nunes starts throwing until the second she stops. It was something like 3:20 mins of constant power shots that were busting Pena up but not putting her down.

Pena's striking isn't good, but she throws awkward and it ends up being effective. Nunes completely underestimated Pena's durability.

And you gotta remember the sort of tear Nunes was on at the time and against who. She'd KOd the big roidy KO artist in 1 round at FW; then went back down to BW to 1 round KO Holly, a former champion boxer; then beats another girl who was considered one of the best strikers in the division in GDR; then she easily beats two big girls up at FW. There were other wins such as Raqul and Shev right before this run, too.

But the point is there's no way she done all that and then came back down from FW thinking Pena was going to be trouble. I mean, why would she? Nunes had already beaten Shev twice and GDR. Meanwhile Pena got subbed by both of them lol; beat the worst champ ever in Nicco; and lost two rounds easily to McMann before coming back and finishing in r3 where Mcmann literally always falls apart.

And then you've got her thinking she'd cleared out the division and had nothing else left to improve, and we know she was thinking this because there was already retirement talks, and after beating Pena in the rematch she only stuck around to fight once more. That about to retire mindset usually isn't good.

Still, Nunes is the one that fucked up. Props to Pena for making the most of that.

I don’t get where you are getting this idea that Peña is losing all the time. Her only defeats in the UFC have come to WORLD CHAMPIONS.

Valentina, GDR, and Nunes are her only losses. That’s it 3 of the P4P greatest female fighters of all time. And Peña managed to takes rounds off of all of them in competitive fights.

Plus she just snapped Raquel Pennington’s 6 fight winstreak. I know people hate Pennington but she legit beat ranked girls to earn her title yet Peña was competitive against her. Juliana is legit.

It's an incredibly stupid game to play saying someone has a lack of or no ranked wins just because the once-ranked fighters are no longer in the UFC or moved divisions. It's not her fault Amanda retired, and Zingano & McMann went to Bellator. It happens all the time here with other fighters. The people booking their fights and signing their paychecks don't give a flying fuck about your rustled jimmies.
