Media Peña Doubles Down – Nunes is Scared, Kayla’s All Hype, No rematch for Pennington, Says commentators are biased against her

Kayla vs Nunes is a much better fight anyways

If there’s a chance of Nunes returning, Skip Peña vs Kayla and make the best fight for the belt they can I say

UPDATED: More shit talk from Pena. She says no rematch for Pennington. She says she beats Raquel 10 times out of 10. And she says the commentators are biased against her.

Sherbums, Juliana Peña is at it again! In a fiery interview on Fight Nation, Peña called Amanda Nunes a coward and insisted she’s the only one deserving of a shot at the GOAT. She claims Nunes is the real money fight and what fans want to see, but accuses Nunes of running scared.

Peña also tore into Kayla Harrison, saying Kayla is all hype, can’t make 135, and would struggle in a five-round fight because of weight cuts. She even claims Kayla is ducking Nunes after calling her out post-Holm. According to Peña, Kayla’s not done enough to earn a title shot, while Peña herself is ready and able to take down Amanda.

Is Peña speaking the truth, or is she just hyping herself up? Let’s hear your thoughts!

Skank and coward. Literally NOTHING but a big mouth. She was literally LUCKY enough to beat an Amanda not recovered from Covid.

This bullshit is why I’m phasing out.

Haven’t posted almost all week. The moderation is HORRIBLE!

I’ve been carded and/or banned for NOTHING compared to this shit.

And I just don’t care anymore.

Take care.

You okay dude???

@maximus__ I get what you’re saying, but I think you’re underselling Juliana Peña’s impact. Let me break down where I think you’re off.

First off, I know TUF has had a ton of seasons, but Peña winning Season 18 was a big deal. She was the first female winner, which was huge at a time when women’s MMA was still trying to gain ground in the UFC. It wasn’t just about winning a TV show—she was part of something bigger, helping to show that women belonged in the UFC just as much as the men. So yeah, plenty of people have won TUF, but Peña’s win carried more weight because of when it happened.

And as for the Matt Serra comparison, yeah, Serra had that insane upset over GSP, but Peña’s submission over Amanda Nunes at UFC 269 is right up there. Everyone thought Nunes was untouchable, and Peña went in and shocked the world. People still talk about that fight like it was one of the biggest upsets ever, just like Serra’s win. Plus, it’s not just about one fight—Peña has a story of resilience, coming back from injuries, having a kid, and still beating top-level competition. That’s a Hall of Fame-worthy narrative if you ask me.

Now, saying she hasn’t done anything unique except give birth is kinda missing the point. Sure, her coming back after giving birth is part of her story, but she’s also fought through multiple major injuries and still managed to take down someone like Nunes. Her career isn’t just defined by being a mom—it’s about facing adversity and coming out on top. And don’t forget, that Nunes win alone was historic.

Yeah, she lost the rematch to Nunes, but let’s not act like she got steamrolled. She hung in there for five rounds with a Nunes who was laser-focused on getting her belt back. Not every Hall of Famer has a long title reign. Look at Serra again—he didn’t have a string of title defenses, but his upset and impact on the sport earned him a spot. Peña’s got that same kind of legacy moment.

And as for her career being “mediocre” compared to others in the division, let’s be real: most of the women in that division couldn’t touch Nunes for years. Peña did. She didn’t catch her with a lucky shot either—she straight-up submitted her. Her career has been about fighting the best and overcoming huge challenges. That’s not mediocre, and it’s exactly the kind of career the UFC Hall of Fame honors.

Bottom line, Peña’s impact goes beyond wins and losses. It’s about what she’s done for the sport and her legacy. The Hall of Fame is about impact, and she’s definitely made her mark.

EDIT: I also also want to add that she is the first woman to give birth to a child come back and win a title. That is an impressive feet in of itself and it isn’t spoken of enough. She is a true legend.

She's not going anywhere. You can always not watch, otherwise she's going to be right there in your face and there's nothing you can do about it.

{<jimmies}
dont worry i'm not watching her i'm taking time during her fight to prepera snack, poop, etc

Again, outside of being female and a mum nothing special.

She isn;t eligible for the pioneer wing... She doesn't get a legacy entry or helping MMA. It has criteria like being a member pre 2000 of the UFC.

She is 50/50 in champion fights going 3/3 against people that held a belt. 6 shots to beat that level of fighter and has only pulled it off 50% of the time.
I even have to include Nicco Montano to give her that one...

She has the belt after getting dominated in her best area vs Nunes one fight ago. We saw what actually happens when she fights a healthy Nunes.
She arguably lost to Pennington in her last fight and should not be a 2x UFC champion.

Everyone comes back from injuries. it's not special. She had an ACL injury, so has 25% of the roster, multiple people had one and then won a belt. Same with other injuries. All these fighters are injured.

You brought the mum stuff up. Being the first Champ to give birth(what a great way to downplay being a mum for other female champs) is her only special achievement.

For years Pena was barely scraping by in her division, her best streak is 4 and is as far back as UFC 200. Since then she has alternated wins and losses for 8 years except for a single 2 fight streak.
Her career is the definition of mediocre. Her only win currently in the UFC is Pennington... She is where she is by default at this point. She wouldn't even have been ranked when 135 actually had some talent.

Feel like we going in circles.

I think winning TUF especially in the era she did means that something. I generally think breaking barriers from women in the sports makes you a pioneer and is a notable contribution to the sport. I think being 1/2 of the biggest upset in MMA history is meaningful to the sport.

Claiming she was barely scarping by in the division is just a bold face lie. It’s just ridiculous. She fought only top ranked girls in the division and has only ever lost to WORLD CHAMPIONS in the UFC. That is not scraping by.

You claim that she wouldn’t be when 135 had talent is just another bold face lie. She was ranked #2 when she fought Shevchenko for number one contender. And she was only -140 underdog against her basically a pick’em.

Calling her career mediocre is ABSOLUTELY INSANE and has no basis in objective reality.

At any given time, the odds of an active UFC fighter becoming a champion are around 1.7%. Keep in mind, this is a snapshot and doesn’t account for factors like a fighter’s rank or skill level, but it’s a good baseline for understanding how rare it is to hold a UFC title. And she did it twice.

Only fool would actually say someone that became 2x champion had a mediocre career.

I fuckin love it.

Get em Julianna!!!!

😍😍😍

Quack quackity quack fucking quack.

Pena SUCKS.

She is a placeholder and desperately trying to avoid getting her ass handed to her.

Commentators aren't bias they just aren't blind and therefore can't deny talking about how mind bogglingly TERRIBLE Pena looks when she tries to fight.

No one believed the first match. She's not even Matt Serra. She was was beat bad first round of the first before her lucky moment. Nothing about her style is very dangerous.

It was the 18th season of TUF. Here is the roster:
Have you ever looked at the records of that season for the females..
Jessica Rakoczy who Pena fought in the finals went 1-5-1 outside of the show.
All the girls from that season had barely journeyman careers in the UFC except Pennington.
Pennington managed to grab the title and should have just defended it.

Everyone traded wins and losses until they were cut. Moddaferi had the 3rd best career of that season...

She wouldn't 't even be ranked in any other division... her best streak is 2 since 2016, none of her wins are still fighting and she only got to fight Nunes because there was nobody else left. She is 1-1 with Nunes making her look like she doesn't belong in the rematch.

Cool she was ranked#2 when she lost to Schev for what? A 4 fight win streak with a win over Cat Zingano, Jessica Eye, Dudieva and Rakoczy. She wouldn't even be fighting ranked opponents in any other division except Womens 135 or maybe LHW/HW.

So now the title is what makes her great and HOF worthy? Here is the history of her division. Multiple people have won that title, only 2 have defended it. Pena isn't one of them.

Again 2x champ? Who cares, it just means she lost. Nunes did it first(and against her) and then Pena only got that chance because Nunes retired. She hasn't done anything that other people better than her haven't done before.

If she goes on and defends the belt 4-5 x chuck her in the HOF. It should be for actual standout fighters, not just people who win a belt and lose it, before winning it again after someone retires.

I can’t tell if she’s playing the heel or truly is this insufferable.

I’m almost starting to like her and her complete delusion from reality.

I don't know about exposed. She beat Pacheco twice and did not adapt for the third fight. If they fought again, I would still favor Kayla to win.
No, i agree. That's what I meant by "by exposed i mean..."
I think Pacheco is the reason that Kayla has worked on standup, but it's not there yet.
