Ive got this great idea lets clean out the prisons ship these people to the otherside of the world to a harsh baron country, force them into prison labour camps and then let them repopulate the knew the land. Its sounds crazy doesnt it.

Its no excuse for the horrible shit that went on down here, but what do expect when you populate the place with jailbirds and criminals and have a goverment of the time that looked upon the native inhabitants as subhuman.

I would disagree.

Everyone has civil rights now. Legally, there is nothing tangiable left to change. By the simple laws of nature, blaming, excuse making, ignorance, entitlement ... these values and attitudes and never going to get you far in life.

I would agree that society may get worse before it gets better, but it will get better in the end.

Australia has near zero community transmitted cases of covid (almost exclusively returning from abroad).

Deaths in custody while a problem are just a symptom of the wider issues.

Incarceration rates, unemployment, illiteracy, life expectancy, net wealth, average income, high school completion rates are all out of whack with the rest of the population. Sure many aboriginals don't seek the same life style as others but many do and for those groups the differences above are still enormous.
