Social There is a huge protest in Melbourne, Australia

Yeah, the idea was to wind back restrictions slowly over the month to monitor for another outbreak. Not so much to crowd 5000 into the north half of Victoria square for a trial by fire.
Exactly. If there's a sudden resurgence of new cases of co-vid in the next few weeks we'll know why.

I'm pretty optimistic, even our last couple of cases were a returning overseas traveller and a compassionate leave case from Melbourne. Virtually no community transmission. I'm just hoping the economic recovery goes as well as the preventative measures.

Fair call that, I work in the university sector which has just been decimated so I'm hoping we get things back to normal as soon as possible. You're right about how effective our measures have been. It's amazing we're giving the fed gov stick considering the low numbers. If we had the US' numbers or hell even just New York's can you imagine how shit would have gone . Only major blunder so far was the Ruby Princess otherwise the Australian gov response and the state responses have been pretty bang on.

People have no clue how good they got it.
Yeah and these ingrates are only going to make things worse. The police will just become more brutal and the state will support it. Although a good amount of them foolishly want society and capitalism to collapse.

At least they aren't going to work or taking their kids to the park. That could have been disastrous. Studies have shown that coronavirus transmitted at black lives matter events is much less dangerous than coronavirus transmitted by sane people having jobs.

If you thought for a second that draconian lockdowns ever had anything to do with public health, I feel bad for you.

Of course a Melbourne person would bring up Melbourne. No one cares about Melbourne aka Melborn.

The Corona hype has officially been over for a while now. The narratives being fed to the reactionaries have changed.

Just a while ago most of those people were in hysterics about anybody being in close proximity to them. Now you're a racist POS for not partaking in the madness.

It's hard to take humans residing in Western liberal societies seriously these days.
And to think we consider Muslims "backwards". We have a cowardly, overly emotional, weak, and sterile populace. Nature will decide who remains.

As a soulless lickspittle, I'm finding this new reality extremely difficult. By the time I learn how to placate the mob our standards and expectations have already changed. I always seem to be one step behind being virtuous.

Well the white people there did essentially try to kill them all

Ages ago, yeah. Time doesn’t excuse those actions, but many modern Australian citizens are descendants of non-British immigrants who arrived well after that.

Why?

Are people that board or are they trying to steal stuff?
My daughter’s friends went to a protest in Brisbane. They had literally zero clue why they were going except “over 400 Aboriginal deaths in custody.”

Not there to steal anything or make trouble. Just bored of lockdown and completely ignorant.
