I think the majority were against illegal immigration during the 90s except for big business from the right who needed the labor and those border shouldn’t exist people. Things change and the poles shifted.

I am pretty sure you can also find a 90s video with some Democrat saying we need to build a fence and immigrants hurt the American workforce. This was before foreign labor took over several industries. It's like how we used to be against Chinese goods because of sweatshop labor but now everything is made there.

This is the most ironic part. HC is constantly raging against MAGAs and Conservatives, but has never stopped to think "Maybe they hate me because I'm calling them assholes and raging against them every day".

Not even once, then wonders why discourse is in the gutter.

To be fair, this seems to be a common humanity problem.

There's an old saying around where I'm from. "You attract a lot more flies with honey than you do vinegar."

You won't be able to change everybodies mind, but maybe some people you can get through too and outsiders looking in won't think you're a total dick.

I'm not a Trumper HC, but you don't have to take my advice. I'm just pointing out the irony in raging against a group of people and then asking questions like WHY they aren't willing to sit down and have a productive conversation with you. You make a thread daily raging.

It's not you, solely, it's a very common problem with people in general. But the discussion you were having with that other guy was talking about you.

In my lifetime (I am 47) politics was reasonably civil until the 2000 election when gore lost by very few votes after the hanging Chad conspiracy. Bush jr did some things that were bad like starting a war with the wrong country potentially over oil deposits. But bush seemed like a good hearted dude and I liked him and his quirks. Ever since then, things have gotten so much worse than they were 25 years ago. Bush even had some southern or midwestern gentleman class going on. He was likable. Then Obama came in with grace and class. I didn’t love him, but he was the best potus in the last 25 years followed by bush jr imo.







It’s Obama reign where race relations began to plummet durin g his reign. I felt like Obama cared so very little about white people and cops and probably was sick of hiding those feelings. With that said, he was the most presidential potus followed by bush jr. biden was a weak af potus that accomplished next to nothing and trump is the worst president of my lifetime and perhaps, top three worst presidents period. The swath of damage that comes from that man’s pen or that man’s dick is immeasurable
 
George Bush is right. Without getting into the broader picture of him and his presidency, his message is a moderate one, and both sides tend to be extreme these days.

I don't want millions randomly streaming over the border. Lots of problems with the fact that Biden and the Dems were afraid to put the brakes on that because the party was too extreme to allow it- they would be called racists.

On the other hand, this ICE stuff is pretty crazy and could be managed in a much better way. They need to find a way to help the workers stay and kick out the criminals and lazies.

I don't see Reagan or Bush liking either side's solution. It harkens back to a time of common sense.

It's because even though you might not get through to them directly, the other people on the fence or outsiders looking in, won't think you're a lunatic and an asshole. They might get confused and think the toxic person is actually you. Does that make sense to you?

Obviously this doesn't apply face to face, but in a group or social setting it absolutely does.
