Do we need one? Not sure if any of you feel the way I do sometimes/often after leaving here. Sometimes I feel a bit dirty, like I went too far, that I wasn't careful. I do "like" and make positive comments to anyone when I like something they say no matter who it is (the odd time I'll think twice maybe). So I do try to be fair but sometimes I say a bit much, make things more personal then they should be, come across as petty and/or attacking.

Some posters I feel I've been a bit offensive to at times:

@JackVSavage (didn't see him in a drop-down list. Is he here still? Maybe I'm ignored - not sure.)

@Kafir-kun

@Ruprecht

If you believe you deserve to be on this list, that I crossed a line with you, let me know.

Yes, I believe the world has a major thing to deal with in Islam. There is a chance I am too pessimistic. I should probably put more energy into bettering myself and praying for the world's leaders that God would give them wisdom, discernment, foresight and courage to make the right decisions for both the present and future. I also need to continue to learn and grow in knowledge about all of the things that become major topics in here (including my hobby-horses).

Will I cross lines again? Probably, but I hope not.

Anyway, chime in if you want.

I don't think I've ever interacted with you but I've read some of your posts and for that alone I think I deserve an apology.

You're feeling empathy towards some posters that do not feel the slightest remorse for slighting you. If you've noticed, some posters on here play that card heavily. They'll give you the snide back hand, and then feign outrage and play the victim if you return with the fist. They are the definition of a sociopath.

Don't get me wrong though. I'm all about forgiveness, but only when it can be requited. If not, fuck 'em.

I have deduced which poster you are referring to

Interesting take. I haven't thought it out that succinctly, but have sort of considered things in the light of what you said. Still, is it better to err on the side of biting one's tongue at times? Maybe. I guess there definitely is a time to speak out too.

Also, does anyone know if JackVSavage is around still?

That's because you're a genuine guy that expects the same level of empathy you feel for others to be returned, i.e. a normal fucking human being.

That's not to say all of the posters you mentioned fall into that category, though. The difficulty sometimes is sorting out the occasional abrasive asshole from the ones with a complete absence of mirror neurons.

But, yes. He's still active.

I try to apologize as I go. If someone is still butthurt over something please let me know and we'll see if I can make it right.

Lol, that made me feel a bit better.

@Jack V Savage

Your presence is required.

TS was on my ignore list so I wasn't seeing this until you brought it to my attention (and I don't believe in publicizing ignore lists generally because it's kind of like an attack that the other person can't respond to).

I don't have anything personal against anyone here, really, but this kind of thing is appreciated. Too often, posters tend to not think of people who disagree with them as being fully human and are almost pathologically lacking in empathy. I think most of the regulars learn to just write it off and recognize that some folks here aren't all there so it doesn't really matter, but the nastiness can discourage other people who haven't really developed that thick skin from joining the fun.

I always keep in mind that there's another human being on the other end of all the accounts, and its nice to see others start to do the same.

Ed: BTW, what's funny is that I've only once seen the TS in the WR. The nature of our disagreement was about how highly we each regard Frank Mir (I think he had a long run on the fringes of the top 10, while TS thinks he's one of the very best HWs ever).

I try to apologize as I go. If someone is still butthurt over something please let me know and we'll see if I can make it right.

:)

I would say the same really, though reading Greoric here, it's hard to see how someone who is so hateful could ever come around. At least it's entertaining. :) He recently said that anyone who doesn't agree with his crankish econ theories is "an asshole." Whaddaygunnado?

I'd say that most people who like to argue politics are already likely to be an asshole, so this isn't saying much. :mad::oops::D

The incidence rate for pathological narcissism is something like one out of twenty five or 4%. There's almost certainly more than the ones I've noticed on here. Some are just less cunning about how they hide it. I'm not a psychiatrist like my brother so, hey maybe my diagnosis is wrong here.

Good attempt at covering though.

Well, that's what the WR is for, right? So no one is tempted to be assholic to people they actually know. But it would be nice if people weren't tempted to be assholes to people they don't know, either, understanding that we're going to try to be blunt and entertaining and to really encourage people who disagree with us to make their best arguments.

Let's not pretend like there's anything resembling objectivity in your arguments though. Consistently, and almost ubiquitously in every exchange you get called out for being dishonest.

By any chance did the TS smoke some weed before making this thread? Often, after hitting the peace pipe I get very empathetic and think about my tone and the way I come across in some of my posts but maybe its just me. It never fails though, as much as I'm conscious about, there is something about exchanges here in the WR that really just turn people into assholes. It never fails.

Being judicious and diplomatic can serve one well on internet forums and life in general.
