"The UFC will be bigger than soccer."

Believe it or not there were people actually arguing that the UFC was headed towards that trajectory back in the day on Sherdog lol.

One is sport, the other is organization
Real question is, is the UFC bigger than the MLS in the US?
I think 98 percent of mls players make more than ufc fighters annually.

1.1bi. That's monstrous even for the F1 boys. Unheard of.
UFC lol

I'm pretty sure 5 years with a 3 year extension clause is the official maximum. But maybe they'll find a loophole or something. I wouldn't be surprised.

You can definitely do more than that, Chelsea have been signing everyone to 7 and 8 year deals lately.

But now Messi is in "US Soccer", MLS might realistically get bigger than NHL in this decade.

What about MLB?

I heard the 16-34 democratic have next to no interest in baseball so the sport is effectively dying with the boomer and gen x generations

Trump, Musk, Dana White... are the modern bullshit salesmen.

Convince idiots to give THEM money ... but not their employees.

<TheDonald>
Yeah Biden is telling you the truth. Talk about idiots.

People can't separate hyperbole and stating a prediction they believe they would be true. Cmon, it's them aiming for the moon in the sports world. To be fair, I could see it passing boxing one day.

Not a single fuck with an IQ north of 50 thinks MMA will ever be as big as soccer. It's incredible how big the sport has become, though. Its presence in popular culture worldwide these days is just amazing to me. I hear references to the sport constantly. So it's easier bigger than I ever thought it would be, I can say that much.

PSG Reportedly Offer Kylian Mbappe Highest Ever $1.1 Billion ‘Lifetime Contract’

Paris Saint-Germain have made Kylian Mbappe a 10-year, €1 billion ($1.11 billion) offer to extend his current deal according to a Defensa Central report carried by SPORT.

If accepted by the 24-year-old currently linked with a potential move to Real Madrid, it would be the highest-paid sports contract of all time and provide the Frenchman with a strong chance of topping Forbes' list of The World's Highest-Paid Athletes each year for the forseeable future.

Mbappe looked close to joining the La Liga giants ahead of last season as the five-year terms he agreed when arriving from Monaco in 2017 neared expiry.

At the last minute, however, the Russia 2018 winner ditched Real Madrid president Florentino Perez at the altar and put pen to paper on an extension at the Parc des Princes.

What Dana meant was UFC will be bigger than any single soccer player.

Lets see Mbappe against Haaland in the octagon and see who deserves the biggest contract.

It's definetely a lot more entertaining than soccer. Seriously, they need to do an overall on soccer. Less people on the field and make the field smaller.

It’s the biggest sport on earth. I think the current rules are working pretty well.

You can definitely do more than that, Chelsea have been signing everyone to 7 and 8 year deals lately.

Just looked it up out of curiosity. I thought those Chelsea contracts would be those 5+3 ones or a similar construction, but that's not necessarily true.

So apparently FIFA has a general worldwide rule that limits the contracts to 5 years. Reading that I thought I was correct, but in the sentence right after that there's one exception. If clubs want to do longer contracts they can do that if the national law allows it. I'm guessing the national law in England allows for those kind of contracts then. No idea if that'd be allowed in France.

Also fun fact, Chelsea did those contracts to work around the FFP rules and write off those transfer sums over 7-8 years. FIFA did change that loophole and even if the contract is longer than 5 years the maximum write off period for a transfer sum is now 5 years.

Messi's first MLS match was more watched than the NBA finals.
Because people are followers. It’s kinda like the Barbie or Oppenheimer movie. Everyone is talking about it so everyone has to watch to feel included. Check back next year at this time. They said the same thing with Beckham.

most fans that follow football are mma fans as well probably. but football is king 1.5 billion watched 2022 final
