"The UFC will be bigger than soccer."

The UFC will NEVER have this.

River Plate from Argentina. 86,000 people every single home game. No BS sold out 20,000 arenas.

You can hear the fans from miles away.

The funny thing is: Imagine people passing a ball around by using their feet only, to place - finally - said ball in a certain point of a field.

That's ridiculous.

People fighting is much less ridiculous. That's actually meaningful.

Dana is absolutely right in the way that fighting (MMA) should be much more appealing to the general public.
Why Americans destroy every sport. Most people see sport as one team playing against other or one fighter fighting other and who ever wins great but in America you need to create drama fake hate fake bravado fake confidence and it turns in circus and then if fight is dud it os even more ridiculous that they did all the circus just to be most boring thing ever same with nfl nba and MLB

Lol back in 2012 Dana said teh UFC was "neck and neck with soccer"...
He was probably speaking exclusively within the USA using some metric of measurement only applicable in the USA where ufc is bigger than soccer

No no offense but it is American thing with exadurating things for clicks or to be noticed

MMAs poor pay is deterring more top quality athletes from competing in our sport. Dana whites bank balance seem more important than fighters pay.

Football also has better fights than the UFC, literal army's fighting each other for fucks sake.

Soccer's now bigger than the UFC in the US alone, forget the rest of the world.

Anytime someone says that just point to one of the 20+ apex events

I don't know why people are so surprised that soccer is the most popular sport in the world.

Along with being the cheapest sport to play, any one of any age can go out into their backyard and play it.

Trump, Musk, Dana White... are the modern bullshit salesmen.

Convince idiots to give THEM money ... but not their employees.

<TheDonald>
U forgot Biden, Hillary, aoc and Kamala. The worst of the bunch

Another fighter pay thread? The obsession with people and their financial status is weird as fuck. If you want your MMA fighters to get paid more then tell them quit MMA and go play "Soccer". Clearly MMA/UFC pay is so trash but somehow fighters keep signing the contract for 5k/5k.

I feel like no game in any sport should be allowed to end in 0-0. No matter what it is, just keep playing until somebody scores..
lol yeah shebro, I completely understand that. Even me as a diehard fan can get pissed watching a boring ass game ending 0-0. There are quite terrible matches full of fouls and horrible refereeing just like there are mma fights that are complete snoozefests.

That's Football. Dana is talking about "Soccer", the thing they play in the US. Arguably the UFC is bigger than MLS.

But Dana said Powerslap gets more views than the NFL, MLB and NBA combined, and we're just idiots who don't know how it works

Also depends on when he said it, and if he meant revenue.

Like FIFA was losing money during COVID, they made like 5 billion in 2022 so they came out with a positive of 1.5 billion between 2019-2022.

UFC was making close to a billion each year even during pandemic.

I don't know if guys like Dana can fathom the impact it had on the country, especially in 98 where it was played at home
Yep and it's not just the winners. Morocco for example came in 4th place in the last World Cup and they celebrated a lot. Dana probably underestimates how big soccer is worldwide.

It's definetely a lot more entertaining than soccer. Seriously, they need to do an overall on soccer. Less people on the field and make the field smaller.

Futsal exists and has been heavily supported by FIFA for over 30 years, but nobody watches it.
