Media The UFC should move to Netflix - ESPN + Sucks.

ESPN+ is worth it for the 30 for 30 documentaries alone, and if you’re a fan of college sports, you get a lot of small conference media coverage, as well as the major ones. And since Hulu is affiliated with ESPN/Disney, it’s nice to just be able to watch old TUF seasons and fight cards on Hulu…,

But yes, the UI is pretty awful and annoying to navigate, compared to other platforms…

Still, I remember all the technical difficulties Netflix had when they had the live Paul/Tyson event, and that turned me off to Netflix for live events…

Netflix paid 5 billion to have exclusive right to Wwe for 10 years
Just curious what the number would be to acquire the rights to ufc

They didn't even get that. They just get one WWE show per week and its archives. WWE puts on other shows that are on other networks that Netflix does not get. And still does PPV events that you need to purchase on other streaming platforms that Netflix also does not have on its platform.

Imagine if ESPN+ only aired Fights Nights and Apex cards. Then another network like Peacock or Paramount+ had PPVs and international cards and required both a subscription and a PPV purchase to watch. This is where WWE is right now. And according to some reports their Netflix deal is a disaster for both parties not even a year into it.

It should be well under $300 million per year. The ESPN deal is 5 years for $1.5 billion and seems like a horrible waste of money for ESPN+ and Disney. What streaming service would pay over triple at $1 billion a year for UFC Apex cards and Fight Nights with nearly anonymous fighters?

I still predict that UFC gets close to $1 billion per year at Netflix or DAZN just with the Saudis footing the actual bill for the deal as part of some sportswashing.

Lol the PPV have shit to do with the fighters, only the chamo gets a small cut of that.

UFC makes its money of advertisement and streaming deals, they make enough to up the pay and still have snow in the porch money.

literally thousands working parts into getting a numbered UFC event, from acquiring the venue to the legal and medical, the bookings, security etc. and that’s the shit you weirdos don’t see. From the PI that a free facility for the contracted fighters to use. you think the cage puts itself together? hundreds-1000 of employees getting together to a event moving then executing.

You can sit on your virtue signaling high horse all you want in thinking all the money is going to some snow on porch and fighters are only 12k12k.

The funny thing is. you people want the UFC to fail and end so bad and then what? thousands of fighters and employees without work. But but another org will come along? other org can’t even stay afloat or even put a first event. and when these fighters get another org, they will truly be making 12k/12k.

Sure, keep thinking you’re doing something right by “fighting the man”. Nobody is telling you to purchase every single PPV or watch every event.

Literally no one I know has ESPN+. Who the hell pays for that shit? It is $11.99 per month. No one is going to pay that just to have the privilege to pay $80 for a shitty card.

Meanwhile, everyone has Netflix. So they automatically increase the available number of viewers. Then they could do free events which Netflix pays for and offer PPV's for the more stacked cards.

Otherwise, everyone is just going to keep streaming it free. Which isn't even illegal. Only illegal for the people hosting the streams.

The quality of the PPV cards have been going WAY down too. $80 for Belal-Jack Della Maddalena? LMAO ain't no one paying that shit.
I have ESPN+ mainly for UFC and ncaa. I won't renew if UFC leaves.

literally thousands working parts into getting a numbered UFC event.
UFC does almost none of that. None. ESPN handles the entire broadcast. The venue handles all security, tickets, food, drinks, and in house production. The athletic commission handles the judging and weigh-ins. Actual UFC employees are outnumbered significantly.

Also UFC fighters are not employees. They are independent contractors. There are probably less than a dozen full time UFC employees at any PPV event.
You can sit on your virtue signaling high horse all you want.
The only one doing that is you. Literally grovelling over the pay of UFC executives.
The funny thing is. you people want the UFC to fail and end so bad and then what?
It won't fail if they pay fighters 50% of the revenue.
Nobody is telling you to purchase every single PPV or watch every event.
Except for the advertisements every single broadcast telling you to purchase the next PPV?

All of that is true for the free fight night cards they used to have on the road every weekend before the pandemic, the same fight nights that actually get more views than the PPV and the same TV fight nights that unlike the PPVs have actually kept the UFC afloat and got them all the TV/streaming deals.

But sure keep paying 90 bucks for shitty cards and pretending that makes you better than the rest.

I have ESPN+ and like it. I won't pay for UFC PPVs but as an MMA and college wrestling fan ESPN+ has enough value for me.

ESPN guaranteeing the UFC 300,000 buys per ppv is what is destroying ppv cards. The UFC just puts a bunch of mediocre fights on them with a decent main event and profits every time. If they ever do a huge number of buys its ESPN that profits, the UFC has no incentive to put on great cards. The ESPN deal must end.

I could reduce my subscription, I've got the Disney bundle and just cut Hulu as I never use it. I only have espn+ for mma, so yeah I'm down.

Wow, so you’re telling me all that is free? I didn’t know all that is provided for without any form of payment and transaction.

Groveling? lol what my posts are non of that, its showing the hypocrisy so called “fans” across the board. You people emotional jealous hate clouds you peoples judgements on what it takes to keep the company running for these fighters to actually make a living even you believe they don’t make enough money to live. Lol

You don’t know that and I don’t know that, what we do know is that countless orgs has folded due to overpaying fighters their worth without profit. Look at the Ngannou situation with PFL, fighters are leaving or can’t event leave because lack of funds, fights and that 10k PPV just shows what fans really thinks of these fighters they so care about. It’s business not a charity.

Except for the advertisements every single broadcast telling you to purchase the next PPV?

I miss that part where there is a loaded gun pointed at your head forcing you purchase it, acting like crackheads over here.

Im not claiming to be better than the rest, im just no being hypocritical about it like that hundreds of weirdos who constantly cry about fighters, fighter pay, events, did or didn’t Dana show up at the press conference, etc. If a fighter like Pereira headlines an amazing PPV like 300, that I can get behind, I don’t pay for shitty cards, I almost miss them entirely or just head to a local bar with friends to eat some good food whilst watching a card, there’s other things i can do with my time here than that. 314 was the last card I paid for and that was worth with money and if part of it goes to Volkanovski who all you motherfuckers discarded like trash then I’m okay with that.
