Media The UFC should move to Netflix - ESPN + Sucks.

I think if they decrease the price to $20 per card, it would work and prevent people from streaming.

Nope, I'll still be pirating that shit. In HD too. And I'll even have less technical problems than if I actually paid for the stupid shit. While Dana White can afford to import snow to his Vegas driveway, I think my money can be better spent elsewhere. Like on myself. Fuck paying rich people for shit if I can steal it.

You know who else doesn’t care about supporting the fighter? The UFC. Buying a PPV does fuck all for any fighter besides champions, and I’m not even sure who gets PPV points at this stage.

I couldn't even really give a fuck to support the champions to be honest. Like, am I ever paying for a Jon Jones fight so I can "support the fighter"? Fuck nah, he's a piece of shit. If anything I'd pay or donate to support the little guys, but they don't get fuck all except a free car wash and CTE, and a possible transition to Slap Boxing if they're considered marketable in America, and all that means is that trailer trash likes you.

Lol, what are you talking about the UFC are the ones paying the fighters. While you freeloading basement dwellings bums are the ones stealing and keeping money away from fighters. The fans love to blame the UFC for everything and at this point it’s clear it’s the so called “fans” are the ones keeping these fighters down.

Espn+ is a decent deal for ufc fans who want to effortlessly watch the near-weekly cards. Yes even the Apex events. TUF, DWCS, PFL, etc

I don't find it funny they don't actually play mlb/nfl/NBA games i really care about. It seems most mainstream sports are licensed to cable TV. If you ask me it's EXTREMELY expensive following any sport or cable

Come on, you’re giving everyone the benefit of the doubt. People on here will still illegally stream it, it’s not about the price. People just don’t care about actually supporting the fighter.
True that ! They LOVE to signal their virtues about the poor dumb UFC fighters starving due to cruel evil UFC pay schemes, but also brag about stealing the streams, thus limiting the revenue streams leading to real fighter pay.

I couldn't care less where they go, my streaming sites don't change so I'll keep getting the same experience

Lol the PPV have shit to do with the fighters, only the chamo gets a small cut of that.

UFC makes its money of advertisement and streaming deals, they make enough to up the pay and still have snow in the porch money.

Honestly I think there's a pretty large segment of UFC's PPV pay base thats 45 and older with the money to afford PPVs and have zero idea how to stream. When those people start dying off or their interest in MMA dies UFC will be forced to adapt.

Ill say thats not true. I have plenty of friends that used to be UFC fanatics. In fact, one of my oldest friends from Canda is who got me into this sport before the UFC even existed. We used to get tapes from Japan of Rings events, etc. I was at UFC 3 live.

Fast forward to today, my friend in Canada who used to stream has lost all interest. Everyone I know that used to watch doesnt. I dont really watch a lot anymore and I dont buy PPVs. Havent bought one since they went up from 29.95 when they did the "one time" price increase for Ortiz vs Couture and the price never went back down.

Can I afford it? Absolutely. Its cheaper than taking the wife out to dinner for the night. Do I want to? Not really. The sport has been in a decline for a long time and the cards just dont feel special anymore.

I dont even bother with streaming because the cards just arent exciting. I might try to find a fight or two somewhere that interests me but the days of sitting down and watching a watered down UFC card is over.

I hope they do go to Netflix. I only had ESPN+ through a bundle because of the UFC and F1. I dropped my package which inadvertently didn't allow me to watch F1 races live so I bought F1TV for a year. The it would be cheaper for me personally if they did I think. I don't need ESPN anymore except for the UFC.

The espn subscription at least lets you watch all the other events except for numbered PPV’s. Around 3 event a month

And even the numbered PPV’s you get all the prelims

So if you have luck streaming cleanly I would continue that

I broke down this year and bought espn+ (month by month) just to get those events running clean, w/o the need to start the cpu and begin stream hunting

Then now only once a month I pull up the stream when the main card hit on PPVs. Then I can just skip the bogus main card fights and start the actual stream when a worthy fight takes place

Its just less clicks on the mouse per month for me

Literally no one I know has ESPN+. Who the hell pays for that shit? It is $11.99 per month.
it's got the free fight nights, and it's got a shit ton of hockey games. if you're a fan of both it's not too bad.

I mean UFC are reporting annual profits in the hundreds of millions. It's been working out for them apparently. The next few years will be interesting.
The UFC has never released annual profit statements, only aggregate totals or total revenue. Those numbers mean very little since it is only what comes in and not what goes out.

Every indication right now is that ESPN is hemorrhaging some money because PPVs aren't selling well. That's the reason Netflix became a focus- ESPN is not looking like they will give the same deal next time.

The ESPN+ app is shit, and the whole deal is a burn. I'm sure part of the expectation was that requiring the app to watch the UFC would cause a mass of people to buy the shit app, which hasn't happened. The UFC was never able to deliver in building ESPN+ up for the money they were paid to do it.

They may end up having to set up a deal that is more equitable for fans to keep the ship from declining further, which would be a good thing, whether it is on Netflix or elsewhere.
