This press conference shows that Conor is correct. He's the star. They should have flown everyone to Conor's place in Ireland or Iceland. But they're stubborn so they had to have it in their place in Vegas.

They don't want to cave in to Conor because they don't want to set a bad precedent for other stars to do the same.

I see your point, but I don't think it's ONE fighter that elevates the org, it's a group of fighters that do that. Just look at Pride, their biggest stars were Saku, Wandy, Crocop, Fedor, Rampage, Gomi, Shogun, and Minotauro (at one point). All those fighters were able to put a lot of butts in the seats in the Saitama Arena and they were beloved and watched around the world.

If the UFC managed to get a group of fighters that were stars then they could become even bigger than what they already are (which is the biggest an MMA org has ever been). The problem is Ronda and McGregor are too negative and difficult, they arguably are the biggest stars ever, but at the same time the most difficult. It's like Manny and Pacquiao, both are huge stars, Pacquia is a much more fan friendly, easy to watch, easy to endorse fighter. Mayweather is like the "villain", and is harder overall to cater to.

What's to prevent McGregor from asking for the same concessions when he fights the winner of Aldo vs. Edgar? Will the UFC make him sit out forever? Doubt it. He's their biggest star and the FW champion. Think he might have the upper hand then.

That's my point. It's a show of power by the UFC in pulling McGregor from 200 but at the end of the day...it seems like they're not gaining anything from it. They need to compromise and put him back on the card.
