The Truth Behind Evan Tanner's Death (Documentary) VIDEO

Amazing. This would have made an amazing addendum to Once I Was a Champion.

I for one.. Until this point have been leaded to believe he committed suicide.. Now I know better. RIP Tanner

yea same here, I always thought he commited suicide. It's obvious by his texts he did not want to die. Was he trying to push himself and come back a stronger person, yea that's probably what happened. But it's a big gamble.

Like someone else said, the power of one is a great concept and it's a good way to live and think. But sometimes you need help. Life can be rough and you should never put your pride above asking for help, especially in a lifeor death situation. But that's nor here nor there. I think by the time Evan realized he needed help, and texyed "I need help" it was too late, he was too disoriented. Just like they said in the film, even if they got a medical to him an hour or so before he died, it wouldn't have done any good, his organs were shot by then.

So sad.

Thanks TS gonna give it a watch I always liked Evan Tanner he's just one of them fighters that's hard not to like.

If you guys found that video good , it doesnt even hold a candle up to this one... its very cold, coroner-like and superficial compared to this masterpiece....i know many of you might have already seen this (as it is not new) but it is so worthy of a re-post especially after seeing how that newer one i just mentioned was so well received. I believe this one is way better, more informative , and it paints the correct emotional picture that was his life. It really pulls the viewer into who he truly was , a fighter with demons , a philosopher , a loner , but above all a gentle and kind human being. Before this I thought that "the smashing machine" was the best mma documentary out there , but this blows that one out of the water.

Believe in the power of one.

FOR THOSE WHO HAVNT WATCHED IT , GO AHEAD AND WATCH IT AND THANK ME LATER.

Video was taken down. Anyone have a link where I can watch this? Much appreciated.

He was always a great guy to watch and just seemed genuine. His thrasing of David Terrel was a thing of beauty, especially with how much of an underdog he was and his battles with Rich Franklin were good fights too.

Dude's heart was in what he did. I remember reading his training camp for lost kids too. Read about his death at the time and was just sad for him. Horrible way to go. RIP.

I don't exactly want to muddle the issue, but it's possible for someone to be suicidal, and then realize at the last second that they don't actually want to die. You'll hear this from some people who survive suicide attempts. Logic would suggest the same thing also happens to some people who don't survive their attempts, although for obvious reasons we can't hear it from them.

I'm not saying he committed suicide, but a the minimum he was acting pretty recklessly. The freaky thing about it is even he knew what he was doing was dangerous since he posted about how he was going so deep into the desert that if something went wrong he would die.

Overall it's just a very sad and unfortunate situation.

i do not support this razak endeavour at all. he does not understand the message evan was trying to convey. he tries to explain "believe in the power of one" in this way...

"Evan had a belief in the "Power of 1", his philosophy of self empowerment. He believed with enough motivation and determination "1" person had the power to overcome any odds."

http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/evan-tanner-film

this is not at all what evan was trying to say. he was trying to say that small actions, the actions and words of an invdividual can have great consequence. a person's actions and words can resonate eternal and in that way one person has the power to change the world. it is in each of us.

razak has a fundamental misunderstanding of his subject matter here.

if anyone wants to see an excellent documentary about evan, watch "once i was a champion".

I believe Evans death was simply negligence. I honestly believe he just bought all of the gear on a whim without learning how it works, especially the GPS. He probably didn't know how to read MGRS or use a protractor or resection or any of the basic land nav skills required to go out into the wilderness by yourself.

He simply underestimated the conditions, and did little to no research about the area he was adventuring into. It gave me chills when they said about him running up and down the hills right before he went. Evan tanner was an amazing individual and his death was so dam unfortunate.

I'm not commenting on his belief of the power of one, simply the incident.

he was actually quite well prepared. it all comes down to the poor information about the spring. the information he had about it was outdated. it had not been updated to show that the spring had dried up. it was, at one time, a good source of water.

i agree, he was a great guy. i miss him, as we all do.

Evan Tanner had True Faith, and he became a Martyr IMO. Great post.

An aside; How many of you that say you're fans of him would, honestly, still be fans if he were alive and fighting today? And out of all of you that say "me", how many can be honest with yourselves and realize.... all the hate that's spewed on this site for "Fighter A"(pick a name) will disappear the day they die?

If you really think about it, MAYBE, you'll think twice before you press the "Submit Reply" button after writing out you're jaded, hate filled posts about someone that dedicates their body and life to our entertainment.... maybe....

Thats what contacting the Forrest reserve or whatever parks and recreations service manages that land.

Bottom line he didn't understand how the GPS worked and he paid for it with his life.
Let it be a lesson to us all.
RIP Evan.
