The Truth Behind Evan Tanner's Death (Documentary) VIDEO

So he left his motorcycle which according to wiki ran out of gas at his camp to walk into the desert with only limited water? thats the only part I still dont get about his death.

I might get flamed but evan wasn't stupid i think he might of been depressed and had that ''if i survive i do if i don't whatever'' attitude and said fuck it.

I retract that statement. The picture thing got me sad man and he asked for help. :(

Edit

So he bypassed a town even tho he knew he was in trouble. Idk I'm confused all over again.

He had a GPS. Why in the flying fuck didn't he save the coordinates from his camp? Even the cheapest GPS systems would allow him to click on the coordinates and the GPS would literally have an arrow that shows what direction to go. Or at the minimum, have a fucking compass.

He only brought enough water to make it to the "Spring"? I can't believe that it would never enter his head that a natural spring would be dried up during the summer.

It boggles my mind that he was so seemingly unprepared. Anyone that has ever been in the military will tell you that land navigation over rough terrain is tough enough WITH the right gear, let alone without having a clue what you're doing.

I think they explained in this short piece that being on the edge of death but making it back would make him a stronger person...
He took a huge risk and paid with his life.

Well I do remember Evan being pretty depressed when that douche Kendal Grove beat him. IIRC he said in the post fight interview "maybe my day is done"

I fucking cringed when KG did the grave digging routine after beating Evan. Now looking back at it maybe in some strange way the grave thing & that loss was the end of the Evan we knew.

5 years ago. My memory is damn good.

Anyway seeing him in that video and knowing what happened after is chilling isnt it?

For the record I'm NOT saying it was a suicide I'm saying that he took a huge risk that he might not have if not severely depressed.

A very strong piece and it genuinely touched me :(

Yeah I agree.

I used to follow him on myspace - he had some crazy rants at times. sucked he went out that way.

I remember that....Sad situation

Did you even watch that video? I'm pretty sure they said he bought top of the line treasure hunting stuff like metal detector, GPS, water purification, tools. Looking for treasure =/= suicidal.

Really a shame the guy is gone..

I remember when he let himself go, he actually started his own camp with regular kids that wanted to come in a train. I think they even stayed at his place as well. Pretty rad...

I can't even bring myself to watch it. Even 5 year later shit around Evan's death still hits me. Weird considering I never met the guy.

It's an unfortunate accident and accidents happen

but it is crazy that he would head deep into the desert and not have a lot of water on him, it's just scary how unprepared he was and I wish someone would have been able to talk him out of it or at least make sure he was adequately prepared to tackle the desert. But the water thing is just crazy, I don't even like leaving my house without water out here. I would never bank on a spring in the middle of the scorching desert during the summer

He wasn't that deep. If he had used the distance he covered walking in circles to continue walking past his target he would have found help. That's what one of the police officers said anyway.

really irritating to hear that he had a GPS AND a PHONE and even the police guy at the end was like "he could've called for help when he was close to the spring and our whole team doesn't know why he didn't"

I don't think this should give the entire concept of "the power of one" a bad name but at the same time, it should be a lesson on common sense and that the power of one only goes so far.

Everyone needs help from time to time. None of us are Superman.
