The superfight went to Diaz

it's just a funny fight

same spirit as andy vs random light-heavyweight but with a bigger impact because of diaz

Anderson is old and has a cracked chin and shin.
If the shin has healed, it's as good as it was. He got knocked out against Weidman, who hits like a truck, and suddenly his chin is shot?

Fucking shertards. Anderson's problem is his age and motivation.

A super fight requires 2 super stars. Anderson is, Diaz is not.

I can't believe how much hype Diaz has. Hell, Bisping would whoop his arse.

If the ppv does a million buys will you consider it a superfight then?

Do you know that GSP v Diaz was most successful ppv ever headlined by GSP? Diaz helped GSP more than Serra, Hughes, Hardy, Koscheck, Shields, Condit, Hendricks or BJ Penn.....Diaz v GSP even outsold GSP v Fitch that had Brock as a co-main.

How is a fight between two guys that have both lost their last two title fights a F'N Superfight? What a joke of a statement. This is no damn Superfight. It is a fight between a former MW champ against a guy who has never beaten a top 5 WW in his career.

GSP hesitated all this time and never had the intention of fighting the spider without like a '3 years' preparation or whatever, lol.

Diaz accepted. We all know who's the real warrior at 170 lbs.

in the same way Chael is the real warrior for taking the Jones fight when everybody else pussed out.

Diaz looking all kinds of badass! TS is right -- Nick's clearly the more impressive fighter and all-around "warrior".

haha, tonycpa's brother

well in the end gsp ducked bro

Yeah. The warrior is the guy with no belt and has an incentive to make money.

Great superfight between two guys who aren't even the best in their divisions with both on two fight losing streaks :icon_lol:

That kick makes me chuckle every time

Yeah, well Diaz actually has a pair of balls, so...

Is this the same guy that ducked Hieron and Mayhem, two guys that GSP destroyed? And Woodley?

So ballsy this Diaz

Just sounds like a moral victory. But not an actual victory, like GSP over Diaz.

I think fighters coming off losses can still be a super fight. I also dont think they even have to be from different weight classes.

Example would be Chuck vs Wand. Neither were champs anymore, both were past their primes, and coming off losses. The difference was people had been wanting to see that fight for years, and MMA world was rabid excited when it was finally going down

Thats why I am kind of on the fence about calling this a super fight. Both are big names, and both have their fanbases. Both have their resumes (even though Diaz's resume isnt a GSP, Anderson, Penn, Chuck, or Wand level). However this isnt a fight people have been saying they want to see for years. A lot of that has to do with Diaz's much weaker resume, lack of a top league title (yes I know he had the strikeforce WW title but that was not a very good WW division), and the fact he was never THE guy in the WW division

Imagine how geeked the MMA community would be if it was GSP vs Anderson. It would be on ESPN, UFC would be hyping it from the day it was announced to the day of the fight, there would be tons of threads started every day about it and people dissecting everything little thing each fighter did leading up to the fight. It would destroy PPV numbers.

That would be a super fight to me anyways.

If people want to call Anderson vs Diaz a super fight then ok thats cool, but it is a much lesser quality super fight than Gsp vs Penn and Chuck vs Wand.

Diaz has nothing to lose fighting Anderson. With all due respect to Nick, his out-of-competition shenanigans have rendered him irrelevant at any weight class. Fighting one of the biggest stars of the sport gets him a huge paycheck, credibility as an athlete, and other perks.

GSP worked long and hard to become one of the best not only in his weight class, but in the history of the sport. Everyone has missteps along the way, and GSP had a share of his own. Overall, his rise to superstardom was a calculated one, and accepting a random fight was not on his agenda.

Bottom line, GSP doesn't need the "superfight" in order to retire as a superstar. Diaz needs a paycheck, and more power to him.

Diaz is solely a prize fighter. He's rather not fight, but he does to make a lot of money. It's not the challenge of Silva and its not the challenge of fighting as a MW, its about a big payday fight.

For fans, its lose/lose for Diaz. He loses, people will jump and say that he was overrated. He wins, fans will say Silva was over the hill.

Well, that's not going to be a problem because he's not going to win.

In terms of grossly overrated fighters, Nick Diaz holds many belts.

I think Diaz should smoke a boat load before this one

Haha maybe he should. Heard when he tested positive for weed with the gomi post fight, his levels were so high there was literally no way he wasn't high in the ring. Diaz out-boxed gomi......high.
