The superfight went to Diaz

Are you the official arbiter of 'superfight' declaration?

In my opinion, a superfight is designated by two marquee fighters from different divisions fighting. It doesn't matter if one guy moves up, down, or a catch weight, and it certainly doesn't matter if there is a belt on the line.

Big names in a combat sport who would otherwise not collide in their respective divisions make for a superfight.

It's not a super fight, IMO. Neither man is even a champion.

Who unilaterally decided that someone has to be a champion to book a 'superfight'

Two marquee names in the sport who would otherwise not meet in their own division is a superfight to me.

GSP always considered his legacy. He didnt want to put it at risk if not absolutely necessary. As already said, he wrecked WW for so long, it's very impressive in itself.

Nick on the other hand simply wants the big names and paydays. He's probably aware that he'll get smashed, but he'll go in there and take his chance. Have to respect that.

gsp is perfectly fine with fighting much smaller LW's but when it's his turn to muster up enough courage to do the same and step up, he runs away from the challenge.

Yeah

You are right ts. Diaz ragequitted after the Condit fight like a true warrior.

Diaz had a lot to lose and all. Ive always been a fan but the guy would self-sabotage a family picnic. Imagine GSP calling out Bendo. Im a fan of Andy, GSP, and Nick as well.

Anderson is old and has a cracked chin and shin. Diaz can take this as long as he doesn't show up high on bong hits and lay on the ground the first 2 rounds like he did against GSP.

I think Diaz should smoke a boat load before this one

100% agree with this

You know what never went to Diaz ts?

Diaz looking all kinds of badass! TS is right -- Nick's clearly the more impressive fighter and all-around "warrior".

Definitely an unfair comparison post-Weidman, but yeah... Diaz definitely takes on all-comers more than GSP would.

Hmm.. wait.. didn't he duck Mayhem, or something?

Well, Diaz was the champ of Strikeforce, but I mean thats still not enough to call this a superfight considering how Diaz record in the UFC.

Yeah, I took that into consideration when I said "major promotion." :icon_lol:

Any title that you won off of Marius Zaromskis, and defended against Cyborg and Noons, is not major. And I say this as someone who likes Diaz, but nothing he accomplished in Strikeforce other than the Daley fight really added much to his resume.

GSP hesitated all this time and never had the intention of fighting the spider without like a '3 years' preparation or whatever, lol.

Diaz accepted. We all know who's the real warrior at 170 lbs.

You're right.
Nick Diaz gets to be the warrior.

GSP gets to retire at 33 as the champ.....Oh yeah, and rich.

Of GSP and Diaz, which one smoked Mayhem Miller and which one ducked him because he was "too big"?

Oh, yeah.

Props for taking a nothing-on-the-line bout against Andy coming off a long lay-off and broken leg though, I guess.

Jeez how many accounts do you have on here Dana?

Georges is a boss and the greatest welterweight in the history of MMA, but lets get your story straight. Mayhem made 170lbs to fight Georges.

When Nick was the Strikeforce welterweight champion a middle-of-the-pack guy at 185lbs said 'come up and fight me bro'

Thats just not how it works. If Mayhem told Georges to come meet him at 185 he would have gotten laughed at, rightly so.
