Television The Star Trek Thread V6.0

I’ve been rewatching the entire 1st season of TNG

21 episodes in so far, and boy, is Tasha Yar even more useless than I remembered

She dies next episode, & I can’t wait

Don't think she was that bad in the role but the show as a whole was finding its feet and Riker was still being pushed as more of the "badass" on the show. When he shifted away from that it left a lot more room for Worf to take on that role.

What was Crosby thinking when she left the show...

Cant blame her that much, season 1 wasn’t great and the Yar character kind of sucked. It probably didn’t look to her like stick around would be a great career move.

In the end it all worked out anyway because getting rid of her and putting Worf in her spot allowed him to really shine.

Just guessing, but it might've been:
Crosby- "I've got to get a different gig to save my career."
Dorn- "My career just improved tremendously".

Her best moments, and sadly, among her only moments, are in Yesterday's Enterprise and All Good Things.

IIRC both she and Sirtis did nude b- movie work.
Sirtis was almost totally along those lines wasn't she? Gene's pervy side actually paid off.

Just got the whole of TNG on Bluray to get though and it is interesting watching series one, besides Farpoint(and Were No One Has Gone Before which I'v not got to yet) I'v not seen these episodes since they originally went out on the BBC in the late 80's. Code of Honour is incredible dated and honestly was even then feeling like a leftover script from the latter seasons of the original but a lot of its a strange mix. Its not so much the show didn't have a lot of its strengths in the basic setup(even if the plotting wasn't), it did but you have these constant odd little moments were things suddenly become much broader rather than the even tone of the peak years.
