For whatever reason the UFC doesn't like obvious solutions like immediate point deductions or new gloves that cover finger tips.

So since they won't implement the obvious solutions, then we have to consider the less than obvious ones.

Therefore I present to you, the future of MMA eye protection:

They're metal so they can hold up to punches just fine, and they spread the impact across your forehead so they won't break your orbital bones. And because they wrap over your head instead of around the sides, they won't interfere with the application nor the escaping of chokes.

Cut off the fighter’s finger after each eye poke like they chop off a hand for stealing. After a few infractions, fighters will know you are enforcing the rules, and will likely take it more serious.

Actually this gives me another idea.

Hire former fighters to be the referees, and if someone commits a foul then the ref just punches them in the head and tells them to stop breaking the rules.

Would be the perfect job for someone like Chuck Liddell.
