The Simpsons Was Always Overrated as Hell.

First 10 seasons are GOAT level stuff. Everything after has been mostly trash.

The only thing that can possibly rival it are South Park Season 5-10.

I haven't watched the Simpsons since the early 2000's, but during the 90's it was the elite of sitcoms. It was edgy (for the time), satirical, but in the end still had a lot of heart. I like Family Guy, but that show will never achieve what the Simpsons did.

One issue with the Simpsons is that it was so deep with tropes from 90's culture that it made it very difficult for it to age well.

I've never enjoyed a single moment of the simpsons, like I did the Tears of Unfathomable Sadness part of the South Park Scott Tenerman episode

my favorite animated show, probably alone on this, is The Life and Times of Tim from HBO

Loved Life and Times, it seems like most people never discovered it or were put off by the animation.

This clip alone is better than anything family guy has ever done. But you knew that.

This is how you do satire that is both funny and meaningful.

More relevant today than ever as well.

I can't dig the Simpsons either, I think that it and Seinfeld are criminally overrated which I'm sure will earn the ire of even more faithful fans. They're just not funny for me, and that sucks being two "significant" longstanding comedy shows that don't make me laugh. I'm >30, so I was raised during its heyday, but it never resonated with me whatsoever.

Lol yeah I'm 23.

I'll see you bums in hell!

If you're 23 you likely haven't seen all the old classic episodes.

The George Bush moving in across the street from the Simpsons episode alone takes a dump on anything Family Guy ever did.

Not a good TV show. At all. It was popular in it's prime because there were no other crude cartoon comedies out there. But can The Simpsons even be considered crude? It really isn't. Shows like Family Guy and American Dad are leaps and bounds better than The Simpsons. There was simply no comedies similar to compete with The Simpsons at that time.

When Family Guy gained steam and took over, it was pretty clear what show was better. American Dad isn't too far behind it. The Simpsons isn't even on anyways radar anymore. Does it even air? Who cares.

I'm ready to get flamed by the old fawks who refuse to believe The Simpsons isn't funny. Come at me.

The Family Guy didn't change culture, or television. The Simpsons did. It's why Family Guy is around.

I love words, but I don't need to use more than that. Case closed.

seasons 3-8 still holds up i think as the best comedy of all time and i believe it pretty much influenced most comedy today including family guy and south park. everyone you think is funny now, probably was influenced by that epic simpsons run

South park wouldn't be around either. South Park gave homage to the Simpsons but wrote an anti Family episode.

Family Guy is a different show than Simpsons. Simpsons was groundbreaking because while being a cartoon, it was based on reality and had a primetime slot. It wasnt originally outrageous, it was just a bout a normal family.

Family Guy is pretty much just a skit show based on pop culture references. It has no story, no real characters, because they are all bound by 3 second jokes and run of the mill gags. It's for the edgelords with ADHD.

You are wrong, and thus the rest of your opinions are useless. Good day.

I think Mike Judge praised them too. Animation got real lazy under the Family Guy model.

cartoon shows are for kids.

but srsly the first few seasons of Simpsons were brilliant. middle few seasons of South Park also were
awesome. the only thing I've ever really lol'd at during Family Guy is when he fights the chicken.

I saw that episode live when it first aired, I believe. All I remember during that scene was struggling to find air to maintain consciousness.
