Alternate theory. Perhaps he is unsure Khabib makes it to the fight and doesn't want to invest too much energy in trash talk until close to fight time.

That would make sense but I don't think it's true. IMO if Conor was unsure Khabib makes it to the fight he would be calling on him not to back out. It's the best way to mess with a guy who deals with injuries or has a history. Conor did that to Aldo and it worked
