The beating he took in the first round was a huge factor as well as the body attacks. I’m not gonna say his age wasn’t a factor because he is 42. He’s not in his prime anymore. However the weight was also a factor. 15 pounds heavier than probably his last good performance against DC 3.. He came too heavy for Jones trying to be strong.

He was as fast as he needed to be to deal with his opponent. He got hit like three times the whole fight and dominated every minute of it.

I’ll play nice. Obviously he’s not going to be as fast as he was at light heavyweight. A lot heavier and also he’s older. But I don’t recall Jones ever being renowned for his speed to begin with. His technique, his versatility, his cage IQ absolutely. But not his speed. Jones didn’t destroy opponents in his career because he was so much faster than them.
