The Pub - Belph's Battle with Anorexia

Or could it depend on the brand of bumper?

The most dead stop I've seen are with Eusaka and Werksan

Well we only have 3 pairs of 15's and 20's and 2 pairs of 25's as bumpers at the gym. Then some metal ones. My ego lifter of a cousin usually just takes all the 15kg plates to do bench or T-bar rows. The kicker is that he actually gets mad if someone else is using the said plate if he plans to use it.

Actually he's just a douche anyhow.

Then it's pretty dickish to bench with bumper plates. Even more so if you're using all the 15s. Unless, perhaps, the gym is dead.

At my usual gym, I'll mostly just use whichever is closer. Or, if I don't want to bother unlocking the metal plates, I'll just use the bumpers.

Benching with bumpers is dick move. Unless the gym has only bumpers or it is your home gym, of course.

Yes, but, it's not like there's a ton of folks there from what I could tell. I guess I should have clarified it better.

The competition bumpers I have used in training deadblow. Interestingly, the plates I have used in competition had a decent amount of bounce. The training plates from eleiko are my favorite but they are really expensive.

Depends on the day and time. Even when it's busy, it hasn't been an issue.

Really, it's about how many bumpers are there, versus how many people want to do olympic lifting. Since my gym has a lot of bumpers, but it's not primarily a weightlifting gym, it's normal for them to be used for other things.

I hate the eusaka plates so much. I only use them when I have no other choice.

What? Why?

The Uesaka competition bumpers are top shelf. I can think of nothing wrong about them.

I was thinking the same thing. I've had nothing but positive experiences with them. At the first gym I trained at, they had a loads of older ones. 10 Hours of lifting all day, every day, and these twenty year old plates looked great.

Edge of Tomorrow was way better than I had expected.

It's a political protest. That means hard liquor only.

I don't use the competition bumpers. The uesakas at my gym are not even on their website, so maybe it is just the ones I have used.

For one thing, the 10kg plates we have are really flimsy, you can actually bend them. I dislike the way they hit the floor. I prefer a bit of bounce and they don't bounce like eleiko training bumpers and if I want deadblow there are better plates for that I feel. I will use uesakas on squats.

This was from our fight night a wee while ago, only just got around to uploading this one today.

Two female fighters at about 60kg. One manages to KO herself on the corner post... D'oh. Skip to 3:30ish for sum lulz.

How unfortunate. I'm going back to my old Thai club on Wednesday, last time I went was December. No matter how rusty I will most certainly be, I'll try not to KO myself on the corner post.

It's at this time of the day that I normally like to watch lockers dancing to funk music:

That was fun.

This week, every day between three and four, this girl dance/runs down the street in front of the gym. She's got headphones and is just full-on losing it. She'll randomly stop and spin and clap, run backwards, uh moonwalk... Great footwork. And she's not unattractive.
Earlier this week there was a train passing and she had to wait. It took at least five minutes to pass through. She never stopped moving.
I'll bet she's a special sort.
