He was good in comparison to his competition back then.

Now more skilled athletes are in the sport. Prime GSP would be a Bisping level fighter in todays UFC. A fighter who is a fringe elite fighter who can win the big one but would lose to the true elite monsters in the division.

Basically a gatekeeper and theres nothing wrong with that.

The competition back then? You mean November 2017 when he went up in weight to finish the champion, right?

Maybe; but you can’t deny (at least with the most recent Woodley fight) that their style is near identical and it would only be logical to say that someone with a similar base would who adapted a fight style from someone else would improve on it and therefore look better doing it. GSP fought a lot of so-called killers in his time. Let’s see if Usman has a similar reign. He has the skill and talent to certainly do so.
