The MilkMan delivers

Yeah think I might give high bar a try for a bit, but both feel comfortable at this point. I'm working off a 1RM of 150kg / 330lbs.

^That's interesting. Had you ever done high bar?

Started with high bar when I was on Starting Strength, but it seems I may have had the bar too high, judging by how the Oly lifter showed me to have it today. Best thing about it was this guy was so humble and nice, really downplayed the level he was at, and actually said my squat technique was better than his (just obviously lighter!)

There's wrestling in Britain? :)

What, you mean you can't tell by our offering of talent in the UFC and other major MMA orgs?? I can't find a list of GB team member names, and I could be wrong, but I don't think too many of them are British sounding..

This week is my scheduled deload week from 5/3/1, and it also happens to be my week off work, so I have deloaded by doing no weights at all instead of running the deload week as described in the book.

Doing a little bit of grip today though while sitting around the house.

HG100 x 10 both hands
HG100 x 8 both hands inverted
HG100 x 5 both hands

HG150 x 5 both hands
HG150 x 5 both hands
HG150 x 5 both hands

HG200 x 5 both hands
HG200 x 5 both hands
HG200 x 5 both hands

Will probably go for a run tomorrow.

Slow run - 37 minutes - 6.2km / 3.8 miles

Starting my 2nd cycle of 5/3/1 tomorrow, eager to get back on it.

5/3/1 - Cycle 2, Week 1, Day 1 - Overhead Press

Warm Up
5 x 25kg
5 x 30kg
3 x 40kg

5/3/1
5 x 40kg
5 x 50kg
5+1 x 55kg (AMRAP)

BBB
5 x 10 - 30kg
Chins...1 x 5, 1 x 3, pretty horrible.

Notes
O/H press still my weakest lift, and I can see this one stalling out before any of the others. Oh well, will get there in time...baby steps.

nice pressing there mate, with my 1rm no less

Thanks Albion, it still feels really weak to me. I did do 1 x 70kg in December just to give it a go and it was fine as a single, it's anything above 1 rep that starts feeling awkward.

strong presses , bench too!

Ha thanks, very kind, but those are the 2 I'm least happy with! I like my squats and deads for now, although there is obviously room for improvement, however bench and o/h press are the 2 lifts that I progress very slowly on (if at all). I'm confident I will get there with 5/3/1 though.

5 / 3 / 1 - Cycle 2, Week 1, Day 2 - Deadlift

Warmup
5 x 55kg
5 x 65kg
3 x 80kg

5/3/1
5 x 90kg
5 x 100kg
8 x 115kg (5 + 3 extra - AMAP)

Hanging leg raises - not very many (maybe 8 or so)

Did not do BBB for deadlifts, instead did some biceptorz work

Barbell curl
3 x 10 - 30kg
1 x 8 - 25kg

Notes
Deadlift was one of the lifts I had originally miscalculated, so that is why the numbers are down from the 1st cycle.

Squats

Warmup
5 x 55kg
5 x 70kg
3 x 85kg

5/3/1
5 x 90kg
5 x 105kg
5 x 120kg

BBB
3 x 10 - 40kg

Notes
Felt rough today. Only had 4 hours sleep, drank no water today and didn't have much to eat, not ideal conditions to be squatting on. 120kg for 5 felt heavy and awkward when it really shouldn't have, could not get any more reps out at this weight today.

Going to eat and rest now...

5 / 3 / 1 - Cycle 2, Week 2, Day 1

Overhead Press

Warmup
25kg x 5
30kg x 5
40kg x 3

5/3/1
45kg x 3
50kg x 3
60kg x 5

BBB
5 x 10 - 20kg

Notes
Pretty happy with the 5 x 60kg, felt comfortable. I dropped the weights on the Boring But Big sets for this workout, due to not having enough time to get sufficient rest between sets as I had to get to work.
