Metal/Rock/Industrial The metal thread \m/

Max era only! most of everything else is crap although the last two have been a bit better musically. Derrick Green is a terrible vocalist. imho no idea why they stuck with him.
FUCK YES... News just dropped today:

Nuclear Blast is proud to announce the signing of metal legends CAVALERA. Today, the band reveal they re-recorded SEPULTURA's first EP, Bestial Devastation, and first full-length album, Morbid Visions.

Max Cavalera comments, “As we get harder year after year, sometimes you’ve got to go back to where it all started! We re-recorded Bestial Devastation and Morbid Visions with the amazing sound of NOW, but with its raw and timeless spirit. The artwork reflects the times we’re living in right now…. Apocalyptic as hell! We also have two new tracks with riffs from those days, remembered by heart.”

Iggor Cavalera states, “I always felt like the recordings of our earlier work didn’t do justice to the way we performed the songs. So, this is a very special moment in our lives that we are very proud to show you real fans our true representation of the amazing records Bestial Devastation & Morbid Visions with an insane visual identity…enjoy and see you all in the pit”

Morbid Visions and Bestial Devastation were re-recorded at The Platinum Underground. The albums were produced by Max Cavalera and Iggor Cavalera while John Aquilino handled the engineering. Arthur Rizk was responsible for the mixing and mastering of both albums. CAVALERA enlisted Eliran Kantor to create the artwork for both albums.

I must admit I don't dig Saxon much, never have - I prefer Iron Maiden any day - but this album of covers by them ehm ehm ...inspires me :):):)

Ok, ok, people who know me well know that I'm not a Metallica fan, but I can digest this album over over-hyped albums like MOP :)

There isn't a single show where exhumed won't play lol

I've seen them so many times and I don't even like them. Inferi on that list too.

HELL YES! Forbidden is coming back!

Chris Kontos will be on drums, and local Bay Area hero Norman Skinner on vocals.

Skinner is a beast, I was calling this right after seeing the Bay Area Interthrashional show:

I just saw Cannibal Corpse for the first time. They didn't disappoint.

Friends that had seen them before told me they were a death metal machine live, but after watching some live footage on YouTube from the last 10 years I was worried they'd be a bit naff.

They were not. Brutal sound and so tight. Some of the extended blasts slowed down a bit as they went on, but they're like 80 years old now so I'll forgive Paul M for that. Magnanimous soul that I am.

Yeah I'm waiting on a tour by them, they come down here a bit I believe. I'm kind of a new fan, their latest album absolutely rips.

Corpsegrinders voice alone is worth the visit. Hell yes

I only appreciated last night that it's actually a good time to see them. They have Erik Rutan on board these days, and he's a death metal god. I saw him back in the 90's playing with Morbid Angel on their 'Domination' tour, and then again last night as he settles into his autumnal years with Cannibal Corpse. What a dude.

2nd Extreme single off their new album dropping in June '23 :).....Extreme are waaaay better than 90% of (overrated) HM bands out there today !

CC is an example of what a top-level band should bring in terms of professionalism. I haven't had any interest in their studio stuff for years (just looked it up and the last album I recognise a song from is Torture), but would still see them live knowing that you can safely expect a top-quality performance.

I know what you mean. I certainly don't have an encyclopaedic knowledge of their back catalogue. But every album has a few genuine bangers on there, and the latest album is no exception. Definitely worth a listen. 'Slowly Sawn' might be my pick.
