The Medieval thread

Yeah, tbh i consider it more a mobile barrier, but the concept it's mostly the same

To be honest i ever found japanese warfare a bit overrated as well as theyr straight martial ability (this extend to east asian on general), but can't deny it's a charming culture

On other hand they evolved to theyr context, 9 times out 10 it was Jap vs Jap, so it's unfair play the X and Y would have wrecked them

1500s: Mastiffs and other large breeds were used extensively by Spanish conquistadors against Native Americans

If you want to see more go here extreme-larping

I like the way one guy uses his sword like you would a pool cue trying to aim for the eye slits.

With the face being the main target, I can only imagine the horrible face wounds soldiers would get.

I would just be thrusting at faces the whole time.

What's interesting to note is the wide variety of weapons used during the crusade. There were armies from different countries and weapons and armor weren't standardized. I bet there were some really cool improvised weapons that were used.

Good point! Some battles lasted hours, what happens when you're dead tired? Do you get rotated out to rest a bit or do you just accept your fate?

You rotate. At least Romans did. Idk most countries battle tactics but they had a pretty advanced way of shifting guys to the back to rest then shifting them back in.

Real crusades history is very eurocentrically biased. He seems to have a constant axe to grind vs Muslims.

Just google real crusades history

lol what?

Just because there's "Conservatives" (who knows who they really are) posting their dislike for Islam in the comments section doesn't take anything away from the content in the videos. That would be absurd.

Also the crusaders were justified in trying to reclaim the holy lands and fight off the Muslim invasions of Europe. The best defense at that point was offense. Islam needed to be contained.

Christians needed safe passage so they could go on a pilgrimage without having to worry about being robbed or enslaved.
