He can probably beat a lot of people out of the top 15 in UFC. He was pretty good at wrestling, probably better than he was at striking.

Actually impressed he put a 2X state placer on his back several times in a college wrestleoff. So it wasn't like he was manhandling some scrub.

A truly hilarious plot twist, Jake Paul is hawking a venture capital fund to invest in WME and change fighter pay from within. For those unaware, even if we were to assume good intentions, this plan would never work since WME's owners have about 80 percent of the voting shares. Yet another truly in mma moment.

Per the press release:
Jake Paul, our partners, and I are excited to announce our latest (Anti Fund Investment Fund) investment — Endeavor (NYSE: EDR), the parent company of the Ultimate Fighting Championship — and our goals for the business as impact investors & venture capitalists.

My partner Jake has lead the way in changing the business of combat sports by not just talking about it, but being about it — fighter pay, healthcare, & championing women’s sport. And today is our next step in our vision of revolutionizing the industry.

UFC has faced a rising chorus of criticism for the exploitation of its athletes — the (heart) of biz. The ratio of revenue going to athletes vs. owners & leagues is well below industry standard. This disparity hurts long-term shareholder value & this is not going to magically change.

Jake is the archetype of the future, where individual transcends the machine. This is happening across all sectors — media, entertainment, & tech start ups where dynamic, innovative individuals & creators are bargaining toe-to-toe w the owners, the institutions, and the academy.

We believe the best way to accelerate this inevitable revolution is to lead it from within the UFC as co-owners & impact investors. We will use our investment stake to rally fans, athletes, fellow shareholders, and management to do the right thing.

Who am I? I come from Silicon Valley & web3/crypto. Skin in the game, shared equity, and long-term alignment is the underlying incentive model that made Silicon Valley and crypto the most impactful business models of the last 20 years. We intend to apply these models to the UFC.

I invite likeminded shareholders, our Board, our largest institutional to the smallest individual owners of EDR / UFC to join Jake, Anti Fund, and I to drive management change to upgrade sport culture, whilst capturing outsized long-term equity value.

It’s not just the right thing to do, but the profitable one.

You gotta understand Jake speaks to a clueless, retarded audience. He says stupid shit that makes no sense because enough people will believe him. That's why he says things like "i'm this generation's Mike Tyson". He does all of this for clout. Promotion. Impressing dumb fucks. He can invest in WME all he wants, he will still have absolutely no power over it. But then again, his fanbase is too stupid to understand that.

Btw, if he cares about fighter pay so much, why did he made so many millions himself? He is the CEO, right? So he is his shitshow's UFC. Why didn't he pay a lot more money to his fighters?

lol wat

He paid old washed Woodley twice what he was making as a UFC champion.

If he’s trying to fix fighter pay, wouldn’t this be a face turn? Nonetheless, there will still be countless fighter pay threads everyday.

So when was he ever a face? He only wanted to boost his image with cameras on by agreeing that fighters should be paid more

lol the guy has literally been getting free press for how long now by attaching his name to the UFC? It is all completely self serving. It’s been a smart play I’m sure. But don’t buy the con that he gives a shit about anybody but himself.

And paid himself around half of the total PPV. How about the other fighters? How much did the multi time world champion that fought on his card made? Exactly, peanuts.

Again, why did Jake paid himself millions and millions of dollars? Why didn't he give more money to the rest of the card?

Btw, Tyron isn't worth what Jake paid. Tyron can't sell PPV's unless he is fighting a celebrity. What Jake did was buy clout. He paid some old dude some ridiculous amount of money so he could have a win over a "world champion" in his record. If the UFC paid guys like Tyron millions of dollars, it would be bankrupt by now. To get millions, generate millions.

Well this a better plan than having a Twitter war with Dana.

That said.

I don’t understand how he expects to convince WME and their investors to be alter revenue structure to a smaller return on investment when they have that massive debt to pay off and the rest of WME properties are being held up by the UFC

Um...he's paid the crap out of those guys.

@avenue94

I’m confused as to where you stand. This seems like legitimate attempt by Jake to change things however your title seems to drip with contempt

Because Jake Paul vs. Maz would draw so much money, they'd be out of debt and ready to compete with Football with all the new fans he brings in.

Latter. They would be buying common stock presumably. So it doesn't matter how much they buy since there are shares that have far more voting power, the ones that Dana and Ari and other executives would hold. So it doesn't matter if Paul's new company invests a billion dollars, they aren't getting that proportion of votes. They had to know that, hence I think it's more of a scam in this instance.

Also the nauseating mentions of Web 3.0 are an instant red flag in this instance, for me personally.

For the record, despite his motivations, I think his publicity has been a net good easily.

It's not here because it's a scam. His investment fund will never have voting power in WME or the UFC.
