You're taking the BMF title too seriously.

It's a legacy belt for established fighters that want to put on a show for the fans. The BMF title will be fought for every year. You don't get stripped of it. There is no lineal champ.

Just like the Intercontinental Championship belt in the WWE. Absolute garbage that means nothing to anyone except those who win it. And those in turn, keep telling people throughout the rest of their lives, just how important this belt is, and that they were once champions.

It seems like its just a way for the UFC to reward their fan favorite veterans rather than an actual competitive accolade. Might be better ways of doing so tbh but I'm sure a lot of the ones that hadn't won anything would love a "belt" along with the payday it brings.

Simply beating the guy who has it... who earned the right to even fight for it through True Grit... does not make the belt pass on to anyone who beats the belt holder.

You have to be a BMF before even being allowed to fight for it. This requires a long history of attitude, & a kill or be killed mentality. Topu was on his way... & that move up a weight was a pretty gutsy first step... but he has not earned that right yet. So there was no passing of the belt with his win over Max.
