My wife was shocked to learn I will always love you was a Whitney Houston song.
This one was also a shock to her since she loves Stapleton
Wanted to drop this............I love this era of music. They are so fucking tight with their playing. I love you all. There is a bright shining sun awaiting us.
Yeah many people are shocked when they learn that a certain iconic tune sung by a favourite artist was simply a cover written and performed by the original artist.
I for example have always loved You've Got A Friend thinking it was written by Carole King, but later discovered it was written by her friend and one-time lover James Taylor.
First time I heard "Strange Fruit" I was stunned.
I do believe only Billie Holiday could have sold that tune that strong.
I have talked about liking to mix music. what fits with "Strange Fruit"?
James Taylor wrote some very exquisite songs for himself, for Carole King and other artists. The arrangements in You've Got A Friend together with the luscious lyrics makes it stand out tremendously !!!GREAT THREAD @Sir Elzio Dennick !
Another great song !Winter, spring, summer, or fall
All ya gotta do is call,![]()

I'll up you on some Mississippi blues.
I used to put the falsetto song??? (can't remember the title atm) from Van Morrison's Veedon Fleece on mix tapes with Strange Fruit all time. Both had this odd melancholy I can't quite explain.First time I heard "Strange Fruit" I was stunned.
