The House of the Rising Sun

Yeah many people are shocked when they learn that a certain iconic tune sung by a favourite artist was simply a cover written and performed by the original artist :):).
I for example have always loved You've Got A Friend thinking it was written by Carole King, but later discovered it was written by her friend and one-time lover James Taylor.

Wanted to drop this............I love this era of music. They are so fucking tight with their playing. I love you all. There is a bright shining sun awaiting us.

Great song, I don't think Waylon or Jr's versions are more iconic then the original though, unless there is another version I don't know?

@ricc505 Bit above my head brother, but I'm drunk and still drinking on a Sunday. I'll drop an obscure I think you will like.

Winter, spring, summer, or fall
All ya gotta do is call, :)

I'll up you on some Mississippi blues.

Love it. I'll offer you this............

First time I heard "Strange Fruit" I was stunned.

I do believe only Billie Holiday could have sold that tune that strong.

I have talked about liking to mix music. what fits with "Strange Fruit"?
I used to put the falsetto song??? (can't remember the title atm) from Van Morrison's Veedon Fleece on mix tapes with Strange Fruit all time. Both had this odd melancholy I can't quite explain.

Also, Jeff Buckey does a good version of Strang Fruit that's based on the great Nina Simone version.

My wife was shocked to learn I will always love you was a Whitney Houston song.

This one was also a shock to her since she loves Stapleton

Yeah I didn't know it was Dolly when I was a kid. Also, love George Jones. Him and Cash got the best country voices imo.
