Media The game is on its knees

If those champions actually walk away then we'll probably see a huge push for WMMA. Zhang is one of their most marketable fighters right now and the UFC has been trying to break into the Chinese market for years

No because she's a woman China wont care

I remember when GSP retired and Anderson lost people were making these threads and claiming it was all downhill for MMA and UFC from that point.

They had no idea

Save for a few exceptions, it has been.

I see big trouble for the UFC.

1 double champ vacated belts
3 champs on their way out
Only 2-3 are actual stars out of 10 champions who won't be around for much longer
2 champions in dead divisions about to be closed down
After DC defeats Stipe, that's another vacated title

Lineups of mostly active long-term superstar champions and future hall of famers..belts are like hot potatoes nowadays.

Lol. If you say so it must be true.
UFC is dying. Not.

Not really, dude. You weren't there. When I started watching in 2009, there was 1 event a month. Only 9 fights and just 5 divisions. MMA was not popular. Fighters were VERY one dimensional. Lay and pray was a real issue. Nothing like it is today, fighters literally had no answer for it and closed guard waiting for the rest of the round or the referee to have mercy on them and stand them up. It was painfully boring, Jon Fitch made a career of exploiting this. Now fighters are constantly trying to get to their feet, using the cage and scrambling, the game has evolved so much. Fights are much more exciting on a general level than 10 years ago.

From Spike, to Fox and now ESPN. From boxing promoters dismissing the sport to the biggest boxing star in Canelo having to wait for a UFC event to finish so he can fight. Things have never been better. Enjoy your weekly event this saturday, man. And the one the next week, and the next one. We weren't always this lucky

people say this every couple years. new fighters will always come and make their own story to get people invested, some more than others but there will always be something going on.

To be fair. There was kind of a down period where Jones was the biggest draw before Ronda and Conor blew up.

Also, while the UFC's revenue has steadily increased with TV deals, the average PPV buyrate per event has plummeted since the early 2010s.

Zuffa was initially successful in selling the UFC as a brand post TUF boom, but it's basically degraded to the boxing model now. There's a modest audience that will watch anything, but casuals only care about the big names.

Ratings for the second tier orgs are much worse too. Despite the fact that they're making more revenue that ever, Bellator ratings are like a third of what they were when Rebney ran the company.

You must be pretty delusional to claim that ufc is in a good shape right now and/or it's getting better.

Should've replaced Weidman with Spider.

Much more impactful.

When you started watching in 2009? lol ok brodog tell me the history of UFC since you are so wise and long-watching.

So basically this proves my point.

If people only knew how true this comment actually is.

Wife beating in the street is commonplace to the point it seems like they are practicing it for sport.

Yeah and it's spelled "Chy-na"
