The Future for Nate Marquardt

I think losing to Saffeidine spelled his demise. Everyone was hyped up, and justifiably so, after his vicious finish of Wood Lee. But then he goes and gets leg kicked to death by a good, but not great, fighter in his very next fight. It's like his prime came and went between those two fights.

Despite losing back to back fights via R1 knockout cutting him is a bit harsh. He's still got (old) knockouts over two current top tens in Kampmann and Maia as well as a more recent spectacular KO against fringe top ten Tyron Woodley. Everyone calling for his release is being ignorant. He deserves one more shot imo.

he is clearly done he has been in mma for nearly 15 years with almost 50 pro fights

before his last 2 fights he had been ko'd only 1 time now he receives back to back 1st round knock outs

those results speak volumes

well marquardt just doesnt fight smart, he is a rly good counter striker, but lacks the defensive skills while moving forward & backward

- he often lets himself drag to the cage
- has bad defense, makes wrong decisions, why kick with ur hands low and having no space? (watch ellenberger ko gif),
- lacks footwork, is vurable against overhand right hands (woodley, ellenberger, lombard)

he is a good fighter, but hes not at top level anymore....can still deliver awesome kos

Paulo Thiago, Akiyama, Maia would all be solid match-ups. Ppl clamoring for his release when they have an idea that his chin may not be as good as it once was but after putting on such a great fight with Woodley and a vicious combo that finished him, there was a possibility that maybe Ww was where he should be and that maybe he'd be a top contender for Gsp if and when he made the move over to UFC. Getting finished by two very hard hitters isn't horrible in fact he likely should not have even taken the Lombard fight
