Goals & Gains The Dark Knight(Templar)Returns.

BJJ.

This class focused on Sweeps from the Sit Up Guard. Professor Rick taught several variants. Since my partner was a fellow No-Stripe White. we both decided to focus on the first and most basic Sweep.

Rolling. A very slight increase in the intensity; I Rolled at about 20% During my first Roll, with another White, I was able to reverse his Mount. Although he Pulled Guard, this is the first time I've managed to escape from being Mounted. A small, but measurable achievement.

I was Tapped in the three other Rounds, by a White, a Blue Belt and a Purple, but I'd have been shocked by anything else. And like they say, if you're not Tapping, you're not learning... :)

Well done on the Mount escape, it sounds like maybe a trap and roll or umpa if you ended up in guard?

BJJ.

No Rolling for me this time. Professor Rick paired me with another White Belt; this was only his second lesson. So Rick just kept us practicing technique for the whole class. Specifically: Flower Sweep from Guard, Cross Choke and Americana from Mount. And a Sweep from Open Guard that finished in Side Control.

Of course, I'd never question my Professor's methods of teaching. If Rick wants me to spend a whole class drilling technique, I'm going to say, "Oss, Professor!" and do exactly that. In any case, I know so little that even other White Belts spend as much time correcting my technique as they do Rolling with me. :)

Bugger. :(

I've somehow managed to strain my lower back. Not severe, but I'm going to have to take it really easy at the gym tomorrow. Especially since it's my Deadlift day. Thankfully, it's my Reload week, so I wasn't going to be lifting heavy anyway. But I'll still have to be very careful. Probably Deadlift at around 50% of my max.

The really annoying thing is, I can't pinpoint what actually caused this. At no time during Lifting or BJJ yesterday did I feel an injury happen. It wasn't until yesterday evening that it started to hurt.
