I'm willing to admit she's not the sharpest tool in the shed and puts a lot of dumb shit on social media, but she votes the way I want her to vote, so I'm happy. Plus, she's young, attractive and charismatic as a bonus.

If Joe gets elected, they’ll become “penetration” camps.

In the end we all just want a rep that votes the way that we would.

I admire the honesty; others should see there's no need for blind white knighting like Trumpettes and AOC fans typically do.

Hitchens, Wolfowitz, Krugmsn, Chomsky, Friedman, Kristol..... its not about ideology or who I agree with.

I dont think anyone considers your avg teacher or professor to be an intellectual elite.

I never suggested it was about your ideology or who you agreed with. I'm a lefty and I would, in a heartbeat, consider someone like William Lane Craig in the intellectual elite and I'm fairly certain he's a staunch conservative - and frankly, I desperately wish there were more like him to balance out the university perspective a bit. That being said, to me it seems more about you taking umbrage with a term and engaging in some semantic niggling.

Now as you list a bunch of academics I could get into some long interrogative process to try and figure out how you picked them, try and catch you in some inconsistency and get myself in a position where I can declare "My definition is the correct one, you charlatan!" - the forum's general modus operandi - but I'm not really interested in doing that because semantic niggling isn't important here and I'm not married to calling the next wave of university intellectuals the "intellectual elite". Really, it's inconsequential - the positions they will hold and the influence they exert is far more important than whether I slap some silly title on them.

With that being the case, let me restate my original point in a way you may not want to nitpick so much. There is a large group of highly educated people with lofty academic credentials, institutional backing, and a future in producing the material that will be taught in the universities (and the education system in general), deciding which of it is taught, and then teaching it, who are big fans of AOC. You can call them "intellectual elite" or not - that's really splitting hairs at this point, as they are a huge portion of what is being produced in the next wave of academia. The reality is that whether you want to call them dummies or say they come from shitty schools or whatever these are people who will have massive institutional power to affect coming generations and the political climate. Intellectual elites or not? Potato/Potatoe. These are the people who are deciding what your kids will be learning in the classroom and they tend to have quite the thing for progressive politics and fresh faces - so strap in and get ready for the future these people are going to help usher in.

Heard about this on the news. She has too much class and intelligence, then to deal with something pity like actual concentration camps.

What I don’t get, is she says green new deal. No one voted yay for it with a majority lol she’s too stupid to understand they don’t want nothing to do with her and the Dems play nice since she is a media darling.

She's not a moron one of the smartest people in Congress(I said smartest women once and I got a sexist lol).

And no she wasn't wrong. Just like the ten year climate thing just because you don't understand a quote doesn't mean it's stupid. People were(correctly) calling these concentration camps before AOC did, and Trump pardoned the man who was making them beforehand.

I don't think people get that none of these atrocities started at the end point, they just needed people who were paranoid about changing demographics and before you knew it you were into final solutions and shit. This is a consequence of US public schools only teaching German history once we get into wars with them and not a second sooner.
To use the word concentration camps in this context is a very poor choice of words. You know that and so does AOC.

It’s the lust for being crass and disrespectful that’s particularly worrying to me. I don’t necessarily wanna go there but I‘m afraid the choice of words is intentionally hurtful to a certain minority that isn’t exactly in the progressive‘s favor.

She isn't there to play nice with career politicians like Pelosi that dont really want any real changes made. None of them should be.
Who gives a shit what those 90 year old, crooked dinosaurs think?

And you either don't understand, or are misremembering why that vote went the way that it did. It was intentionally not voted on by the Democrats--AOC told them to just vote 'present' . It has already gotten public support from prominent Democrat senators..all of the ones running for president.

That piece of shit McConnel was the one that brought the bill to the table to get voted on, not the Democrats. You're supposed to have hearings and fact finding quests before you vote on something like this. McConnell rushed it to the floor so that the Republicans could use it to fearmonger and spread the stupid bullshit about 'AOC wants to ban beef and airplanes' in the 2020 elections.

It's amazing how so many of you people call her stupid, and yet you always dont even have the basic facts of the case right.

Democrats used to control the media. The media now controls the Democratic Party.

The vote was to move it forward, not pass legislation.
It's dead.

No. The vote was moved forward by the Republicans to try and use it as a political smear against the Democrats. It was not put forth with any intent to have a serious conversation about it.
AOC wanted to have hearings about climate change, hearings that McConnel has consistently blocked from happening.
No one voted on it because it was a sham vote.

It was not legislation being voted on, it would not have implemented and new rules or law..

Piranha mouth seems to be ignoring the fact her Jewish constitutes sent her a letter telling her to shut up with the concentration camp comparison.

When was that ever my point? I didn't say anything about legislation.
Republicans have been intentionally misrepresenting the Green Deal and what its purpose is. I specifically was talking about the hearings that are being blocked by putting forth the vote the way that McConnel did. AOC has specifically talked about the importance of having hearings and fact finding inqueries on this topic. The Green Deal is not a series of laws, it's a road map to the direction we should be heading to.

It's dead Smiley.
