This whole commentary is as stupid as it's always been any time the UFC does one little cash grab or 2 in among it's mostly legit sports programming. Just let them have their little bits of entertainment value FFS. You all take it for granted that MMA will stay mainstream... & meanwhile the UFC is the only one to persist at the highest levels.

Greasing the casualz a bit is all a part of what allows them to keep the legit sh*t in the spotlight. Nate vs.Masvidol is LEGIT AS FOOK!!! so don't let some bullsh*t negative sentiments get in the way of that... just enjoy the ride.

That said, I'm an OG from way back & I think Nate's BMF belt is fun. So f*ck you stuck up mother f*ckers who can't have a good laugh!!!

I don't care about the legitimacy of the sport, I just want to be entertained, but even with that I find the idea of inventing a novelty belt to be extremely dumb. The fight hypes itself without such measures. It kinda cheapens the last of the integrity any of the belts had after years of interim and interim-interim belts

So I thought this was just kind of an unwritten thing to win between Masvidal and Nate but apparently Dana really is creating a belt for this match that is “one and done” and can’t be defended.

I think it’s fun, but this really solidifies the idea that the UFC isn’t pushing mma as a sport but rather sports entertainment. Same reason why a certain irish person is being considered as a replacement should Tony not make it for the Khabib fight.

What does the BMF belt do for the UFC, legacy wise?

It devalues the real belt.
Ufc is making a mistake with this gimmick.

i was getting shit on for being a supporter of interim belts just because i didnt agree with this fight main eventing a ppv card. i said a real title fight should main event a ppv, esp in msg. like, hold on.... that same person wanted some ridiculous extremely fake belt to main event over a title fight and im getting shit on for it? u cant debate things with idiots. i even said this fight could comain the card, be 5 rounds for the stupid belt and put any other title as the main event. stupid stupid ppl

This is the all-star team belt? Pro-Bowl appearances whether you choose to fly out to Hawaii or not being elected = money and incentives and goes straight to your wiki on the right hand side. Winner of MLB all star game decides home field advantage in the world series. It's Very serious to players/ coaches/ fans on contending teams. Not exactly comparable. The super necessary question is, especially to Jorge, how much is this belt worth? I fear there is a chance in the next 20 years that belt will be resting in a Miami pawn shop.

Not a perfect comparison, just the nearest one I could think of. In essence, the UFC will probably use this as a #1 contender or title eliminator fight.

The UFC needs two BMF belts, one for BW/FW/LW/WW and one for MW/LHW/HW. Most MW's are 200+lbs anyways come fight time.

it's to give Conor a path back to the UFC to have a potentially winnable (underserved) title shot. PPVs will sell for a belt, even if it's a made up one.
