So I thought this was just kind of an unwritten thing to win between Masvidal and Nate but apparently Dana really is creating a belt for this match that is “one and done” and can’t be defended.

I think it’s fun, but this really solidifies the idea that the UFC isn’t pushing mma as a sport but rather sports entertainment. Same reason why a certain irish person is being considered as a replacement should Tony not make it for the Khabib fight.

What does the BMF belt do for the UFC, legacy wise?

Nothing, it's just fun.

Yes, the UFC is looking more like sport's entertainment than a sport. Which is kind of sad, having watched this from an era where they were actually trying to build something legitimate.

That said, the NFL, MLB, etc do pro bowls and such between their top players for fun. I'll choose to look at this as something similar, if for nothing else than to hope that maybe the UFC will one day actually care about the legitimacy of rankings again.

It's a one night only thing and it's really not a big deal. The fight appeals to casuals and hardcores alike and is going to sell very well with or without an actual belt present.

Its some WWE shit, like how the WWE was calling Ronda "The baddest woman on the planet" even though we knew it wasnt true lol now the BMF title will go to someone who isnt remotely close to being a BMF

UFC really is entertainment, its rules favor wrestlers, we have dozens of rules for a no-rules fighting championship. Don't forget all they want is money, and all we want is to see great, not staged, fights.

On the other hand I agree with TS, BMF belt seems a bit too cartoonish... Who was that guy who used carry a real-life wooden cross during his walkout?

They should have a BFF next.

For the "huggiest" and nicest fighters.

All you need is to put up middle fingers like a child and you too could fight for the BMF title one day.

When the Fook is Conor gonna defend his Million Dollar Belt??

Yea the whole belt idea is retarded. Making a mockery of the sport

I wanna see Jorge smash Nate across the back with an acoustic guitar.

i cant believe you idiots think its real.........

This is the all-star team belt? Pro-Bowl appearances whether you choose to fly out to Hawaii or not being elected = money and incentives and goes straight to your wiki on the right hand side. Winner of MLB all star game decides home field advantage in the world series. It's Very serious to players/ coaches/ fans on contending teams. Not exactly comparable. The super necessary question is, especially to Jorge, how much is this belt worth? I fear there is a chance in the next 20 years that belt will be resting in a Miami pawn shop.

Jones won this belt when he mushed Cormier off the press conference stage in Vegas, while throwing generic Anik through the backdrop too.

All you people saying "oh this is like the WWE"... you're out of your minds. THIS is the polar opposite of that!

We've BEEN in the WWE era of mma for the past several years... with fake beefs and stupid trash talk...designed to hide the fact that certain fighters are just boring to watch in the cage, so they try to make up for it outside of the cage, and talk their way into big fights.

What we have NOW with this....is the real deal! 2 guys that will ABSOLUTELY deliver fireworks in the cage! 2 guys who will also not hesitate to punch a competitor in his mouth OUTSIDE of the cage either. And how are these 2 behaving during the buildup? Nothing but complete respect towards each other. No trash talk, no beef. Just respect and realness. They'll do their talking in the cage, and the fans will benefit.

THIS is finally a movement AWAY from that WWE type garbage.
You guys got it all backwards, man.
