Movies The best 80's movie is...

Last year the by me I read a newspaper article about flash dance turning 40 years old. The movie is silly but is iconic. Became a low budget movie which made a bunch of money thanks to a great song

in op's list i'd say back to the future or robocop

neither are the best movie of the 80's though

Toss up between BTTF or Lost Boys.
But so many classics to choose from.

Its probably the most "MTV" blockbuster with a very heavy emphasis on music video like dance scenes, lots of 80's style visuals to it generally from smokey steel works to leotard clad bodies.

From reading the article apparently the plot was terrible. The critics pointed out what a stinker the movie was. The soundtrack carried the movie into stardom

To be honest I always felt the critics were overly hash on it, perhaps because as I said it had such obvious MTV influences which were looked down on at the time. I don't think it works as well as something like Karate Kid as I suspect Jerry Bruckheimer probably wanted a more generic romance but I think Lynn does manage to turn it into a pretty effective film about chasing your ambitions.

So many great movies. Shout out for Airplane/Flying High. One of the best comedies. 80's were great for movies.

Midnight Run, and it came out the same week as Die Hard, which is my number 2 80s movie.

Since it looks like no one mentioned it yet, I'll throw this absolute classic into the ring.

Andie MacDowell was great back in those movies. I just looked her up she is from m South Carolina. Would have never guessed she was a southern girl.
Good call. Beautiful woman and one of the few NATURAL feminine beauties that didn't turn into a plastic lizard trying to cling to youth.

The first predator movie also came out in 87. Really good movie also set off a franchise.

Top Gun
Another movie killed by the critics. Blockbuster movie combined with a soundtrack to match.

I don't know, but Better Off Dead came on the other night and it is still hilarious.

Flashdance? The plot actually isn't great...it's the same as Pretty in Pink where basically the main girl is faced with the horrible challenge of saying "okay fine I'll date the rich handsome guy and accept opportunities" instead of standing in her own way for no reason.

But the execution of Flashdance visually and musically is top notch.
